I live in her new mayoral area, or whatever you call it. I think Driscoll was a far better candidate and consider he was an independent, had a far stronger and more visible campaign. He had clear policies compared to her baseless ideas. Knowing how strong the resources and finances were supporting the Labour candidates in the north east were, I would say they have done very poorly. Yes they won (apart from Teesside) but they should have been streets ahead.
Driscoll had a huge fund raising team behind him. Going by what his supporters were saying on X these last months you'd have thought he had it in the bag.
