Another Tory caught lying and this time, called out for it by a Treasury source.
There is, of course, a chance the source is lying but then surely the Treasury would be quick to act and correct it.

Bigger question is, given all the **** going down currently in the energy and business world, why on Earth isn’t the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy talking to the Treasury?!?
Is he on holiday too??

Just following the example set by the PM. And you know what, if the media don't hold them to account and the electorate don't hold them to account they'll think what's the downside in doing it. Just say whatever you think sounds good seems to be the mantra, details and facts are irrelevant.

I'm not a Trump fan - but observe this orange man bad syndrome a lot - and yet the new president does not seem any better in the bullshittery ,and in some case worse.

Even whilst protected as he is by complicit media AND all the Big Techies. Biden is polling worse than Trump-a-lot ( even CNN quote thus ), and is clearly in a cognitive decline.

No different to what the current cabinet are doing then? The parrellels are scary and it shows how much power they already have, the lie with impunity. Not political half truths too but things like this. Blatant, easily verifiable lies and they get away with every single one

We are as a nation must start demanding better of our politicians. It starts with us. voter apathy and disinterest has led us to this point. The media can easily spread the propaganda at the moment, because people just see the headlines and falsely think things are OK

Totally different to anything this government are doing I have only voted Labour all my life except once to keep the Libs in post when it was a straight fight between them and the tories. As far as I am aware no party in this country has tried to organise the overthrow of another administration by overturning an election!

No, but they are turning to voter suppression and gerrymandering of electoral districts, following the Republican/Trumpist lead.

As @NYboro says. You don't need to overturn an election if you take enough power from the people (changing constituency boundaries, making it more difficult for people who oppose you to vote, controlling the media to spread your propaganda, stifling protest against you). You'll win the next election anyway.

All of which they have done.
