Labour canvassing at the door

I've just had a guy knock on the door canvassing for Labour. He mentions Anna Turley and I explain that I will be voting Labour but feel Anna Turley was the wrong choice. He looks over his shoulder and says "I've got to be careful of what I am saying, but I agree with you. As long as you are voting Labour though".

He obviously believes in her. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Where abouts do you live in Redcar? I live just off Lord Street and have never had them round here as long as I've owned the house. We've had a LOT of bother the last few years and nobody seems to want to hear about it, saw her posting on social media about canvassing around the Coast Road/Redcar East areas enough times though.

I don't get why she's still the candidate? Same as others I'll be voting Labour to get rid of the Tories but She does nothing for the area, isn't even from here, and she lost the last election to that empty suit **** bag (although people voted more for Boris/Brexit at the last election than that little twerp) Jacob Young.

Normanby - I thought my name would give that away.

Probably canvassing Eston/Normanby because of the local election results. Came around Eston in early autumn. Would’ve voted Labour at the next election to get the Tories out but not after Turley got picked.

Come on then big man.... why don`t you out me then if I am this so called troll!!! Like I said, I am happy who I am, just a man with a full head of hair and straight teeth!!! Please out me, you know jack sh1t about me!
And you know a lot about me. Which shows your are the usual stalker. You can't help yourself. Give it up mate.

"but can we trust Labour with the economy ?"

Straight ftom the Tory play book that one.
Amazing that people keep trotting this line out given what the Tories have done to the economy and industry in this country over and over.

I wonder what note will be left in the treasury for Rachel Reeves to read out in parliament

I've door knocked Lord Street before.

We can't of course door knock every house in the constituency that has 50,000+ houses, it's even harder to knock when everyone is home, doesn't stop us trying through. (y)

Turley was with the Steelworkers @ Redcar trying the keep the plant open in October 2015

The Minister for Levelling Up who was representing a Teesside Constituency appeared not interested.

I do think Turley's pro-EU views are been heavily used against her. She did work hard to help people in the Redcar area while she was the MP. Membership of the EU is not the most critical issue to people living in Redcar, but some people are making it the most important issue.

Turley wanted Hargreaves to buy the site and keep making steel, Hargreaves weren't interested in making steel as it's not their field and the plant needed too much work, instead they wanted to buy the coke ovens and the bilk terminal so they could move product around which is their core business. They would have invested in the site and kept people in jobs as well as creating more jobs.

This insistence on continuing to make steel is why the talks fell apart, I think Hargreaves were being a bit cheeky with their pricing as well but they were owed a lot of money by SSI and took a gamble by continuing to work on the site that they'd get the lease when it inevitably went under.

The point about extra funding for areas with Conservative MPs, will likely be the other way round after the next election.

The chance of a Conservative led Government currently is about 12% and Labour 88%

So if people in the Redcar area want to be with the party in Government they need to think what party they want to represent them. It could be particularly grim for working class areas with Conservative MPs with a Labour led Government in 2025.
