I was at this match. My dad took me and left at 5 nil. We heard the Boro crowd "celebrate" the consolation but dad was insistent it was 6 nil to Blackburn as it wasn't very loud
I think Noel Brotherston ripped us to pieces that day

We lost 1-4 to Grimsby in Sept 1982 (5,927)
Sept 1982 was a bad un, we had already lost 1-4 to Burnley and Fulham before Grimsby came to town.
Blackburn then dicked us 1-5 that November (Brotherston)
Managed to hold Grimsby 1-1 in Sept 1983 (10,248)
Then we lost 1-5 to Grimsby in Sept 1984. (5,252)
That is humiliating. Possibly the definition of it.
Some dire times them.

I remember watching that match with my Dad here in Canada.
He commented that the overhead views of long lines of Boro fans rushing away from the Riverside that day looked similar in appearance to the then underway exodus out of Kosovo.
