Latest on Gayle

He'd be a very good forward as part of the 4 or 5 CW wants to have in a squad but I wouldn't be counting on him as our main striker.
But without the Spence cash beggars cant be choosers..... and that's if Gayle does come here. Money is a massive problem and Watford supposedly want him.

I think Spence will go to deadline day leaving us short up front, which is a shame because we have a very good defence and midfield.
I hope im wrong but deadline day transfers usually happen like this, you can see it a mile off
 
I'm not overly bothered. Whilst I understand he's probably 'better' than we have he's also 32 and been injury prone for 2 years. It's over 2 years since he's had a 30-40+ game season.

I think many just think of him as the Gayle who got 30 odd at WBA. That was a few years ago at his peak.

Also on 50k a week. So no doubt a big financial outlay (even if picking up half). You don't wonna be paying 25k a week and loan fee if he can't stay fit.

I have no doubt he'd stick away many of the chances we miss. Yet I'm not convinced about how fit he will be. Also not sure about motivation. He's seemed happy to sit around at Newcastle on big money rather than go out and play. Unless people just couldn't genuinely afford him.
 
Wonder if Newcastle would be willing to help us out and just give us him while they pay his wages, seeing as we're all north east mates and all that
