Yep, we don't need to be looking for a first choice number 9 in the summer, we have one.

We do need a striker but think we can go for one who is a bit more a project rather than spend big on the finished product. Possibly another from overseas, give them a year to settle.

If we're going to spend fairly big it's the number 10 position for me closely followed by a top drawer centre mid (maybe two if Hackney goes). Then another wide player.

Add real quality in those positions and I don't think we'll be far away.
I'd say a wide player who could switch to the number 9 would we ideal, as ELL has shown he is susceptible to spells out the team injuured (as has every player this season)

If a club comes in for him in the summer with a decent offer, do we let him go, if so how much is a suitable amount?

No, let's actually add quality rather than sell it.
Get Chuba back, add someone out left who can do what Jones does on the right and get a big, mobile CDM to compliment Howson and Hackney.

Moved to a new country. Struggled with injury. Still scored a few.

Now he has settled in, got over that injury he is finding his form. He has scored lots, but not only that the finishing is class - several of them are really good finishes that perhaps a decent striker would not put away.

I know that it is often trotted out that Forss is the best finisher at the club, but perhaps not anymore.

IF he stays injury free, then I have high hopes for next season with him leading the line, especially if we can add that little bit of quality in behind (a fully fit McGree & Hackney, an on form Jones, a fully settled in Azaz and maybe a replacement for Greenwood)

He's starting to look like the real deal thats for sure, but he needs better service - both from a proper 10 behind him and also from the wider players, it doesnt feel like the rest of the team around him have been that good during his recent purple patch.

We still need another striker, maybe one who offers something a bit different, more physicality, and we also need a proper 10, Azaz hasnt convinced there yet

He's everything you want from your number 9. Fantastic work rate. Can hold the ball up and is good in the air despite the fact he's not a tall lad. He's rapid, strong and can finish. With a full season hopefully injury free and better service around him he has all the attributes to be one of the best strikers in the Championship.

He has an infectious grin, and is obviously a bit of a joker with his teammates. What is evident is that he appears to be happy here at the Boro. For me, that’s the most important factor, a happy player is usually a settled player.
I agree. His little jig with Jones after the goal last night shows he's one of the boys.

If you look beyond his settling in period he has 9 in 14 starts (plus a 30m sub) in the league from 25th Nov. and That's with a 10 game absence in the middle due to dirty Chelsea cheaters. In fact in that 10 game period when we missed him, we lost points in 6 games incl the 2 against Rotherham. He could have made the diff to us being 6xth right now, today. Oh Well.

A goal every 148 minutes in his first season in a new country. He wouldn't need to improve much to bag 25 goals next season. Another option up-front would be a good idea. He isn't going to play 46 games.
He doesn’t need to improve any, just stay fit 😂

He would need to play 33 games I think too get 25 goals. I don't see him playing that many. My maths might be wrong as I did it yesterday and may be mid remembering.

In any event I think he would either have to play a lot more games or improve a bit.

Get another striker with the same quality to take the workload and a more creative left winger and we’re back in business

I agree. We are not a Million miles away, dependent on who leaves in the summer.

If we went into next season worth zero changes I would fancy us for the playoffs and be around the autos, though just fail.
