If Leicester were to make a move for the former England youth international, it is unlikely to happen until at least one player departs from the King Power Stadium. That's according to City boss Brendan Rodgers, who spoke to our City correspondent Jordan Blackwell after the match against Leuven over the weekend.

“Clearly, we have to do some business out before we can get players in," Rodgers said. "We just are not in the same position as some of the other clubs. Until that changes, I keep working with the players we have. We try to maximise their abilities and if the club can do something in the market to help the team, we would want that.

“(Selling players) is two-way. Other clubs have to want the players. But it’s also very important that we can’t get too hung up on that. Of course I want to improve the squad, I want to develop the squad, I said that midway through last year, but if it’s difficult financially, I really respect the club, so I don’t go to war with them.

“It’s unfortunate. We have to do some work and if we can do that, then hopefully we can affect the squad because if we are going to compete anywhere near where we have been, then we need to be able to do that. If not, then it’s a different expectation.”

* One possibility which may effect City`s pursuance of Tav is midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall moving on.

* Hamza Choudhury is also considering moving on from the Foxes.

I can't say I know how good Choudhury is or isn't tbh, it's just his name has been mentioned on here more than once. It wasn't an endorsement from me, more a question.

We have a few leicester fans at work as my company is midlands based, they are all genuine guys and all say to me he wont help us get promoted and we'd be worse with him in the team. Thats put me against then idea since he was first linked.

For me, we've left it very late to bring in decent players especially as we've known for weeks, perhaps months that the likes of Payero, Tav, Spence and maybe Fry might be gone if the right offer came along. We've been far too passive and now we're are looking like mugs in the market. For instance, Derby's Tom Lawrence would have been a good replacement for the likes of Payero, there were others who have slipped through the cracks and now it's the loaner market for us-- which as we know is an absolute farce. As for Choudhury, the fact that he's been offered to us says one thing-- he's overrated and shouldn't be considered. Then there's the issues over signing strikers-- our achilles heel over the past few seasons, why oh why has this not been addressed sooner? It's no wonder, that players like Tav and maybe Fry will be reconsidering their allegiance to the club if we're holding back, being conservative or just not able to compete for above average players.

Seems like his agent has been touting him around (probably with the club's blessing). I wonder if we expected to get more money up front for Spence which hasn't materialised and we now need to sell Tav, so we can get the three strikers that Wilder wants. It's been a bit of a weird transfer window apart from the defensive signings.

Perhaps compare us with the transfer activity of other clubs in the Championship. We're no more or less "passive" than anyone else. We need to balance the books. The Spense deal should mean that we can demand top dollar if someone like Leicester comes in for Tav or Fry. But we can't stop them.

As for Tom Lawrence, not at any price. Complete d*ck and not even that good to make you tolerate his ars-ish tendencies.

I seem to remember we signed big Uche pretty quickly last season, he played in the friendly at Bishop as I recall. Buying early doesn't always guarantee the best results we need to buy WELL not quickly

We cant buy players to cover Tav and Fry if they go. We have to wait until they have left and then try and replace them. Even if we had Saudi Arabia type money from the chaiman. financial fair play would not allow us to work this way as if neither Tav or Fry leave we couldnt cope with the transfer fees and wages for their replacements that we bought 'just in case'

We can’t deny any player the chance to play for a top ten Premier League club. Forest and Bournemouth are no great improvement on the Boro but Leicester are in that top 10 bracket. If they are serious we need a quick deal agreeing and wish Tav all the best. I don’t personally think he will be a regular at Leicester and could return at a cut price in the future. I was convinced at the end of the season after we failed to even get in the playoffs we would see Spence, Tav and Fry go so no surprise one has gone and one is looking possible. We can only hope Wilder is in really advanced talks with 4 or 5 good potential signings he feels will improve not just the squad but the first 11 from last season.
