Just reading an article on the BBC website on lineker in Japan. He says that Robson tried to persuade him to sign for Boro when he was at grampus 8. He turned us down as he didn't have the fitness after a toe injury. Did we already know this? Could have had lineker and uwe up front.

I seem to remember the link was in the August before his contract ended, and was kiboshed pretty quickly before our season even started. Obviously Robbo knew him pretty well. I don't remember it being mentioned during the season itself, and certainly not in the second half of the season when we signed Jan and Uwe. Not saying I'm 100% correct but that's definitely how I remember it. I loved Lineker as a kid and was pretty excited about it.
