Lorry's to powerful?

These lorry drivers come up really close behind you always looking to overtake or to force you to speed up ,they now fly up hills making a mockery of slow lanes.
Plus they appear to be bigger than they used to be!
Barstewards.

I don't think you should generalise all "Lorry" Drivers as the same.
When we drive at a full 44t we need momentum, most trucks now have software built in that stops them getting close to other vehicles, and if I am running max, I ain't flying up any hill, let me assure you. But you're right we are getting larger trailers, 13.6mtr was the largest, the max we run at now including tractor unit is 18mtrs, which is 60 foot+ 5ft overhang with the right markings so 65ft.

Size wise, some are bigger than others. especially when comparing night cabs to a day cab for example. some are taller, but they are all basically the same width (2.55M approx). so they aint really getting bigger.
As for driving up behind you and forcing you to speed up, that's all down to the person behind the wheel. Some are pricks, most are decent. but that can be said for most, if not all modes of transport.
Slow lanes? I take it you mean the overtaking lanes on certain roads? If so, an unladen HGV is totally different from a fully laden one, so you can do the speed limit pretty much up it as a car can. And just because it is a HGV it doesn't mean it has to slow down to allow others to exceed the speed limit. Obviously common sense comes into it on differing roads, as HGVs have slower limits on some roads.
I don't believe they are too powerful overall, mine certainly isn't and its a new truck.

Trailers are getting longer, the government has increased the trailer length by 2.05mtrs this year, and when I passed my class 1 we ran at a max of 38t, we can all now run at 44t without statgo.

Yea i pulled a few of the LST during the initial trials a fair few years back. Strange at first due to the rear overhang. And making sure the rear axle locks in when reversing. Made it fun if it didnt lock it properly 🙂.

I had a little go of this last year (off road). Denby’s were hoping to get Dft permission for a trial but were unsuccessful. It has the same turning circle as a standard artic, good all round vision with cameras. Reversing is a skill (that I didn’t have!) I think the plan was for motorway trunking, quite popular in Europe apparently.

It was only 32te max when I passed my test and tacho’s were still to become law 😳

I've drove similar, bloody awful things, I really struggle to reverse my car because I drive in bendy truck mode all the time. :ROFLMAO:

From my experience on the A66 in particular, the lorry drivers are infinitely better than some of the car drivers.

It’s like that for most of Teesside and North Yorkshire. I’m actually glad I now have a big ar5e pick up truck, it means people see me more easily and I feel safer with my kids in the back. no one seems to drive up my rear either, I guess they are more wary of the damage crashing into the back of me will do to them. Great on the country lanes near where I live as well, as I can see over all the hedges. Only downside is squeezing into parking spaces.

To be fair the reason they 'fly up slow lanes' is usually because some clown in a car is sat doing 60 in the middle lane. This is made worse by smart motorways.

The people who used to hog the middle lane now hog the 3rd. The inside lane (far left) is almost the 'fast lane' as no fecker uses it.

It’s a good thing at time having a HGV on the A1 north of Newcastle when the road is single lane. Some drivers really do think it’s a race.

This is so so true.

Mainly EV drivers trying to extend their range by driving a car slowly. It's anxiety I tell ya!

Imagine a lorry or HGV driver called Laurie Driver. There must be one , at least one ! If he has a friend or colleague called Max Load, well that would just be too funny , when the both of them got together ! Just sayin.
