I'm the exact opposite of the OP
I won't listen to a band whose vocalist I don't like
Yeah, I'm the same. My mate loves them but I've never been able to get into them.Joy Division - hate is a strong word, I don't hate his voice as such - I just don't get the whole band / thing
Depends on whether you're listening to them sing or marrying them I guess.I'd have to know something about them to answer that. Whichever one was worse out of those two.
He was never good live.Stone Roses. Can tolerate Ian Brown's voice enough when I listen back to their records because I love the songs, but he sounded painfully out of tune during the reunion gigs.
I'd say its tolerable nowadays. In the final years of Oasis it was unlistenable, especially live.Guns n Roses
Oasis - I know they’re not a band anymore but Jesus Christ, Liam’s voice is absolutely atrocious nowadays.
Me neither, never understood how they ever got popular personally.I'll also add Kings of Leon - terrible, don't get it
I'd say they have a few good tracks, 5 or 6, but they're largely loved for laying the foundations for New Order as well, and the 'Madchester' thing that followed. Whilst his suicide was tragic, it certainly didn't harm the profile of the band.Joy Division - hate is a strong word, I don't hate his voice as such - I just don't get the whole band / thing
I love New Order but Bernard Sumner is not a natural singer. He only took on the vocal duties because the others were worse.I'd say they have a few good tracks, 5 or 6, but they're largely loved for laying the foundations for New Order as well, and the 'Madchester' thing that followed. I love Sumners vocals but hes awful liveI love New Order but Bernard Sumner is not a natural singer. He only took on the vocal duties because the others were worse.
As i've said in the other thread, Hooky is a much better singer than Bernard but couldn't play guitar and sing at the same timeI love New Order but Bernard Sumner is not a natural singer. He only took on the vocal duties because the others were worse.
GnR lies was an acoustic album because he'd ****ed his voice up. This was in the 80s.Tragic isn't it. One of the all time great voices back in the day, even as recently as 10 years ago he still sounded fantastic. There are some cracking YouTube videos from festivals around 2010-2012 where he sounds incredible. God knows what happened though.
What about the vocals though? Say what you want about Bono but he is a good vocalist in my opinion.U2 - Love their music but not the band.
