Luke Ayling

I thought he was excellent.
Used the ball well. Looked energetic and always available. I hope he can do that every week.

They played a very aggressive high press early on. We just had to weather it and try to ease our way in, but they got their goal by being first to the ball. That happened all over the pitch in the first 30 mins, not just at left back.

Surprised to read this, thought he really struggled first half, looked slow and got caught out many times. Fairly solid second half but they had gone by that point, Millwall were poor.

Interesting a few had mixed views on him today.

I thought he was excellent, only a few day training with his new team mates but slotted in perfectly. Looked composed on the ball and great mix of passing and got stuck in when needed.

Will only go from strength to strength as he gets used to the team and style of play. Master stroke by the club to get him on loan.

An improvement on what we have and a good debut but positionally he makes us a little vulnerable at times, much like Giles did last year. Was often caught scrambling back. No surprise as he was like that at Leeds. Thought he also got sucked in by the ball for their goal but it would be harsh to blame him. He linked up well with Jones mind. That should only improve as they play more games together.

Ayling had an absolutely first class debut - I’m not sure how anyone could fault him today
There’s been a couple of points raised on his faults which I think are fair. I don’t think Leeds would’ve let him go if he had no faults. He’ll only improve with more game time too 👍🏻

Never seen the game yesterday but I think this is a great signing seems like a top lad also, it's a no brainer for me to bring him in, sure we must be paying a percentage of his wages and also will be on a free in 6 months time.

He had played 12 minutes of competitive football since early November and one training session with his new team mates…And some people are having a pop. Excellent debut in a great Boro win.

I’m not reading it as people having a pop, he may have done well in context, if he’s had so little game time but in the match yesterday he struggled for large parts, until the game slowed down around 60 mins.
