According to Sky Sports he's a huge name at Barca! 🙄

He is a big name, despite boro fans with obsession with pegging him down.

What club does he play for? How much did he cost? Did he represent his country at the euros? Does he play at the highest level?
Hes not really a big household name, was poor at boro, did okay at a bottom la liga club and somehow found himself at Barcelona. He's nowhere near their level.

He doesn’t have to be a “household” name but he is a big name. He’s also loaded amd has property investments worth just under £200m.

he plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world regardless of your opinion of his ability, gets paid ÂŁ85k a week and played for his National team in the euros and aljisnt certainly going to be playing for them in the World Cup, and now wanted by premier league teams.

You can’t have all that and not be a big name - papers are writing stories about him. And they don’t do that about nobodies

it’s only boro fans that hate him

Just to clarify, I don't even dislike Martin Braithwaite and could see he had ability when he was here, was just very frustrated like everyone else was that he didn't appear to put as much effort in as he could have on occassions. How much this was down to Pulis is something we may never know.

However, the main point of my OP was that his name was a little out of kilter when used in the same breath as Griezemann, Dembele and Coutinho!!

I wonder how an English player would react if he went abroad then his team changed managers a few times and failed a couple of promotion pushes

I don't think his nationality has anything to do with it at all and no idea why you're suggesting it has? There are plenty of players who have downed tools in their own domestic leagues, a number of them at the Boro over the years.

The reality of the situation is that regardless of what's happening you should be professional enough to give 100% week in week out even if things aren't working out the way you thought, especially when you're being paid very, very good money for the priviledge.

Funny how his name was mentioned before Dembele and Coutinho, who have names about 10x bigger.

He's a good player though, no doubting that, better than us, not good enough for a typical Barcelona (albeit now isn't typical, as they're skint)..

We didn't get the best out of him as he was signed by an idiot, and then the next guy realised we couldn't get anything with such a weak attacking lineup, so played defensive and hoof ball. That probably got us the most points we could get, with that team, but it didn't suit Braithwaite one tiny weeny bit. He needs to play in a good footballing side, with some attacking threats, we've not been either of those for about 15 years.

The team changed manager once and he demanded to leave in January of the season he signed. So at the time zero failed promotion pushes.

He comes back, we were playing well and definitely in the promotion hunt the second season before he decided he wanted out again. He wasn't here long enough for a "failed promotion push".

Quite why some Boro fans are desperate to be his PR spin doctors escapes me, but whatever.

Just trying to look at an alternative angle on it than make assumptions.

The obvious assumption is he’s took the money an ran for another pay day elsewhere with almost zero contribution

To be fair I'm sure Pulis wasn't his cup of tea and there were rumours his wife wasn't happy.

The second season annoyed me more to be honest. He was in the side playing well, flies off to link up with Denmark and then decides he wants off. It really screwed us as he was our only genuine creative spark and we had no time to find a replacement (not that I'd have trusted Pulis to find one mind).

I don't think it was too much to ask him to give us another 6 months to see if he could help us get over the line. Particularly given the money he was on. The timing was terrible.

It also didn't help the stuff he put on social media making out he was really excited and committed. Just made it look like he was full of ****.

Pulis spouting Boro have made him a millionaire about a bloke that’s apparently around $200m asset rich doesn’t really seem to do much to pulis’s credibility.
I wonder if warnock might of done more with brathwaite and bamford other than showing them the door given the chance .

To be fair Pulis might not have realised what he had going on in the background etc.

Not even sure if Braithwaite's investments had come good by then. Maybe that's why he left us? Thought he could chance a move elsewhere as he was already going to be loaded no matter what.
