Maybe those situations... Aren't always barlaser's fault

A lot of the time Dieng is sensible when playing it out from the back though - it's a rare mistake from him.

Barlaser takes too long on the ball, O'Brien didn't have a chance with that pass.

Hard to tell who was at fault tonight, Dieng with a suicide ball or OBrien not on his toes.

The real problem with that sort of error in that position is that you have little time to correct it.

You need very good players to do this playing out from thee back, not sure some of ours are good enough.

If barlaser had passed it there to O'Brien... It'd of only been not Lewis's fault 🤣

Dieng without doubt

I think Dieng was at fault tonight. It’s frustrating as in recent weeks we’ve tended to mix the game up a bit more, going long and short. In the game situation, so close to half time we could have managed that situation better.

That said, Dieng has been very good for us this season. When he do commit to playing out from the back, it’s a risk /reward game. Unfortunately this season, injuries at the top end of the pitch has reduced the the % chance of the reward, as too often we’ve not exploited the spaces created when breaking through the press.

Generally, I’ve come to accept that some fans will never like / feel comfortable with us playing out from the back too. It’s the one thing at the match this season that I constantly get into debates about with those around me, but it was the same last season even when we were doing well 😆

If I was playing midfield for Boro I'd avoid going into the D on the edge of the penalty area as our keepers seem to have a compulsion to pass to you when there - marked or not.
Does anyone know how many goals it's cost us this season?

There was a view from behind on the replay on the highlights and you could see that the pass was never on.
O’Brien would have been forced to play it straight back to Deing who would then need to control it before getting closed down himself, absolute suicidal football and totally the keepers fault.
