McNair fry dijksteel

Not understanding why this has changed.

Lenihans best game so far tonight but we aren't convincing at all.

He was talked about as someone who was gonna come in and offer steel and make us tougher, not seeing it so far.

We are creating chances, scoring goals, but we've changed an area that was fine.

Understand the left centre half thing, but McNair's a more solid and better central defender than Bola so it's no contest
 
Agreed - Lenihan is not an improvement on last season so far and we look so shaky at the back without Mcnair and Fry.

If you are going to change something you do it for the better and so far it feels as if “dont fix if it ain’t broken’ springs to mind.

It was broken. We didn't look good defensively last season. We conceded 4 in the last game against Preston and were battered by Sheff Utd as well. They bullied us completely
 
Lenihan is right up there with the most headers won and completed passes in the league. He’s absolutely fine and will only get better. Not sure why we’ve stopped playing McNair at LCB though. He was more than fine there last season, but now we have this obsession to play a left footer there and shoe horn McNair in somewhere else. Its bizarre.
 
Fry AND McNair have to be in there - they are outstanding defenders in this league, and our best defenders by far. Lenihan has not looked great so far. Need a left sided centre half with Paddy on the right and Fry centre, or alternatively if Lenihan has to start put him right side and Paddy left
 
I couldn't understand us signing Lenihan at the time, as I rate Fry highly, however I was prepared to roll with it and put my trust in Wilder.

I know it's still early days but I'm beginning to worry that it's going to prove to be a mistake. The priority defensive signing needed to be a LCB. I appreciate we have tried to sign Greaves and others, but maybe in hindsight we should have moved on quickly after being unable to get them in and looked at other options.

We should have started the season with McNair and Djiksteel competing for the RCB position, Fry CB and a new LCB. I'd have been happier for us to have offered either Peltier or Bamba an extra year as well to provide cover.
 
We sat off that was the only problem. The defenders are not the issue. Fry is not maldini, he is weak and slow in possession. the back three played on the front foot well. We need to keep pressing, didnt help taking watmore off but he was shattered.

Yet you insist he's the best option at right centre back. Put fry there he heads the ball clear
 
Like I said lenihan had his best game but he hasn't been convincing in the others.

As a unit we appear weaker than the McNair fry dijksteel combination.

Bola for me isn't suited at all. Not physical enough, strong enough, tall enough. And yes, not specifically his fault for any goals, but I guess the point was, as a unit we appear much more fragile defensively and less physical/arieally capable.

Also, with a more attacking player in Giles in that wing back position now, wouldn't it make more sense to have more 'solid' defenders in th three?

Defenders not the problem have you not seen the goals against column

there are always times when you need to 'sit off', when you are going to get put under pressure. We have crumbled so far once teams put balls into our box.
