Middle-class trappings

What? I don't follow this.
sorry Baron, fat fingers.
the Capitol classes are those who have or control the money.
even the apparently wealthy or successful business operators are beholden to the money managers and bank.
Their money literally works for them and moving their money has huge effect .

I don't think I have ticked any of the middle class boxes on here.

Havent got to the end of this thread yet...but wifi enabled scales has blown my mind. I had to google it just to work out why the two things would be combined.
Mine is from fitbit. So the information goes over wifi to their server. It is then presented back to me on my phone in the fitbit app. Alongside all the rest of my fitbit info.

I remember pointing out to someone that with the scales and the wifi enabled towel rail I have got more processing power in my bathroom. When compared with the processing power that managed the lunar landings.

Same here, the old fitbit aria. Absolute nightmare to set up but once it's in it just happily syncs your data all the time!

Yep a bit fiddly to set up. As you say, once done they work fine.

It is neat that it recognises the difference between when I and my wife use the scales. Due to the mutiple kilo difference in weight. It then routes the readings to the two different fitbit accounts.

I used to have a Fitbit but once Google bought them, I was out. They now have the option to add medical history to all of the other data they collect on you. No thanks. I have a Garmin Venu now which I am loving.

Spam - it's like meat.. but it's for the working class
chippy teas - it's a special meal only for the working class
waste grounds - they all live on or near waste grounds.
hanging around - you wouldn't catch a middle class 'hanging around' things to do.. people to meet.
knock off trainers - you see the working class cannot afford
a fella your dad knows - an utterly moronic statement devoid of thought, meaning and context
weed - it's a name of a drug they use.. they use drugs a lot you see.
the unions - yes, the unions are for the working class.
crap schools - no eton or oxbridge
bunking off - they don't even go to the schools that they are given! ungrateful much?
electric metres - none of them pay monthly for their bills.. it's an alien concept to for them
Brixton - sounds like one of those places urban types do crime in = working class
Toxteth - another place i've heard of.. something to do with riots again? must be working class
hand me down clothes - funnily enough something much more prevalent in the genuine middle classes and upper class
holidays in caravans - much like the travellers they prefer mobile homes to bricks and mortar
**** on a stick - see that piece of dog poo on a stick? that's your best toy that is.
the back of a lorry - thieves. where as normal folk would pay for goods from a shop.. these underlings will steal products from the manufacturer or distributer.
failed MOT’s - I took my car into the garage last week.. it failed because i'm working class.
failed GCSE’s - are you working class? learning is not for you really is it?
bus stops -imagine waiting for a bus.. what a larf! guffaw, guffaw
pay day loans - it's what all the working class use to pay for things before they receive their wages. they prefer loan sharks you see.
Daniel Blake - it's a film about... THEM!
Grenfell - I heard this on the news.. it was something about them
cheap meat - they cannot stand reasonably priced meat let alone expensive meat
pubs - public houses.. this is where they congregate after an afternoon of theft
pints - the measure in which they choose to consume beverages.
tobacco - they love it, it's like cat nip to them
Margret F***ing Thatcher - if you didn't like her.. you MUST be working class
cash converters - like pawn shops but for the working class
job seekers allowance - they get hand out to encourage them to look for work.
zero hour contracts - again more convenient for the impatient and thick skulled. no working class would be salaried.
jam butties - large sandwiches made with jam used in place of an actual meal.
gravy - have you tasted gravy? - you must be working class!
pyjamas - they wear them as day clothes, they're lazy you see and spend most of their time in bed.
broken glass - they grow mistrustful of anything that can carry their own reflection. glass is always broken for a working class.
broken homes - working class marriages never work, too much sex work and adultery.
playing out - working class children will play in the street rather than go to a sports centre or play video games. it makes them tougher in cold conditions.
white lightening - a working class only brand of cider.
E - more drugs
backyards - it's like a garden, but for storing stolen equipment and making fake trainers.
slums - the natural home of the working class
tenements - such large interbred families need to be hose closed together but separated enough to stop contact breeding
The housing - that's what they call housing.
The social - a public house containing extended community events of theft and druggery
The NHS - they love it, they'll clap for it and vote for any toff who wears an NHS badge even if they want to sell it.
grants - they all look like the taller Mitchel brother. not to be confuse with government monies used to preserve stately homes and inherited antiques.
grasses - the criminal class do not look kindly to crime prevention or justice
benefits - they prefer these instead of jobs. they spend them on plasma screen tvs
belts - exclusively for the working class.. none of their trousers fit you see.
credit unions - again banking or anything to do with numbers needs to be simplified
hiding from the milk man - more thievery.. but this time it is much more culturally significant. 'the milkman' appears to be a hybrid st nick/krampus specialising in dairy gifts.
tired dads - all working class fathers are lazy
fierce mums - all working class mothers are aggressive
dying young - reckless behaviour and constant drug use, poor diet.
Aldi - Scandinavian discount food, they buy

Grime - rhyming expletives with tribal drumming - also muck.. they're a right filthy breed
underdogs - no working class can be equal in any activity, they will forever be 2nd best in everything.
mental health - unstable and depressed. they should learn how to cheer up! perhaps it is all the drugs and crime they do?
beans on toast - a working class speciality
second hand everything - not like antiques though, just broken things
Brookside - last aired in 2003.. but I think it is something they watched
watching the match - watching teams of athletes compete as entertainment. how very roman of them!
endless cups of tea - you get free tea everywhere if your working class.
futility and empowerment - no matter what they do it doesn't change a thing.. and when they realise that it puts a right smile on their faces

it all buys into this idea of 'the other' that if you are working class you are poor, uneducated, criminal and worse still... that you should aspire to that or wear it as a badge of pride.
"white lightening - a working class only brand of cider."
I think it's what Michael Jackson used

How long before Google, Apple or Amazon buy Garmin though?

Generalisations on good working class qualities:

More willing to help others
More sociable
Pay their taxes and sometimes actually pay more (less access to ways and less knowledge how to avoid paying them)
Less manipulative
More emotionally honest
Claim less in welfare payments because often live 15 years less
More self reliant

I'm sorry I just don't buy that, there's loads of people with significant influence and credibility in many industries who have a regional accent.
Agree, but many many more have ditched the regional twang and gone for BBC english, it pleases the chairmen and owners of the companies and the venture capitalists that spew the money. They like to hear top senior management without reginal twang. was working in the manufacturing sector with venture capitalists so have first hand knowledge. PS I have a durham brogue which not as course as Georide or as soft as Teeside.... never tried to lose it and although I got to board level in a London based company ( 6 manufacturing bases around UK) I did feel out of place with the other oxbridge guys on the board ( non execs and such)
