Morgan Rogers

The next month or so is going to be his chance to claim a starting place in the team with all the injuries and fixtures, and I think he’ll do it.

Looked very classy on the ball today, I know it’s only Port Vale but the more I see him the more I’m impressed.
Pure baller.. he’s going right to the top mark my words!

Reminds me of an young Tav.. still!

Rogers has shone in the cup. Against Legaue one opposition he is clearly a cut above.

Championship he’s shown glimpses but he’s clearly a rough diamond who needs more time to develop. At the moment he still makes too many basic errors and decision making needs to improve but I’m sure that will happen over time.

This can be said about a number of our summer signings though. You aren’t buying top end level players for less than a million. They’ll take time.

Some will be shrewd investments who we will make a nice profit on in the future. Some won’t quite make it. Roger’s has shown enough so far to make me think he’ll certainly be a really decent Championship player at the very least, but we won’t see the best of him for another season or two.

With a depleted squad, he could only manage a place on the bench most weeks, with Crooks, Greenwood & Jones preferred to start by Carrick.

Did well tonight, as he did against Bradford in the cup, but that's his level for now, against League 1 and League 2 teams he looks good, but against better defenders he looks lost and often over plays the ball.

When we start getting our injured players back, Forss, O'Brien, McGree, Hackney, then I don't think he will be anywhere near the starting line up.

Some of his passing tonight was lazy. Played slightly behind the recipient or too far in front when he had plenty of time and was under little pressure. Little things that can easily be improved by recognising how important it is when you are building an attack to maintain momentum. He has all the attributes to be a top player just needs to concentrate on some of the simple things. I have no problem with some of the flicks and tricks that might only work once in three but simple ten yard passes need to be precise and accurate nine times out of ten not five times.

He was summed up on the TV commentary tonight first half ... " Stand out player on the pitch "
Three seconds later he tries an unnecessary flick that doesn't work, thirty yards out and they were four on three..

In the top of the champ and above it gets punished.

Agree with the opening posts that he's all the attributes physically, and technically ability to be a very very good player .
Decision making ( when to hold it , when to flick , defensive responsibility, ( make 35 years olds jobs easier , not harder playing behind you ) ..etc ) .. that's all that's stopping him being a top player .
Really hope it comes

I think this is a complete myth that he's only played well in the cup games. He's played well against Championship teams as well. Against Coventry he created about five chances we contrived to miss, scored the winner against Birmingham, excellent pass to set up Jones second goal against Sunderland, very good against Preston, was pretty much our only bright spark against Stoke when he came on...and who can forget his assist against Swansea at the weekend!😙

He looked similarly classy against Exeter in the last round - but against better opposition he needs to show consistency. I think he looks very good on the ball at times. At other times he struggles to impose himself

He's had moments, quite a few, where what he tries comes off and it looks great but he's not had many full games where he has been great. Plenty of glimpses of potential but as mentioned by others he makes a lot of simple errors which he needs to focus on cutting out.

Of the new attacking signings he has the most potential but it could also go the other way if he can't cut out the mistakes. You can't get away with being wasteful at a higher level.
