Moved into new flat - Removing old Sky cable/satellite??

Hiya, lads

Just thought I'd ask a daft question as I am useless with owt like this

I have noticed in a new flat I am moving into, where I thought the TV Aerial cable was, you know, for just the regular terrestrial Freeview signal?? - is a split lead which appears to belong to an old Sky dish outside on the wall - was the previous customer responsible for having this removed, as it is not my property surely??

Also, as I have just moved in I won't be getting a new TV subscription any time soon ... I would just prefer to use my TV for now running on normal Freeview mode, but I am going to need a new coax lead installed to aerial by the looks, aren't I??

Normally anywhere I have moved into there has always been the regular coax to go into the back of the TV for regular signal still there, but I have no TV signal now as left with just an old knackered Sky Dish hanging on the wall outside and an old, knackered split cable running into the gaff which clearly needs ripping out ..

Is there a decent service about locally that can remove this for me and attach a regular coax lead for the tv from the aerial or would I get away with installing a cheap wireless one into the back of TV until I get a new subscription with one of the usual companies, does anyone know?? At a glance people are quoting thirty quid upwards alone just to look at the thing, what I thought is a simple issue haha ... dilemma now whether to spend to get it done or spend on a wireless one though there is a chance that will fail too ... grrgghhhh

Cheers (sorry, I am hopeless at this stuff, I should be ashamed)

Ha ha

Is there an aerial serving the flat?

If there is just a Sky dish and you don't want to use Sky you will need an alternative method of picking up a signal say new aerial or Free Sat or you can go just through broadband e.g. Amazon Fire Stick. (cost about £45). Sky now off Sky Glass that does not need a dish, but a subscription it runs off broadband I believe. The Amazon Stick comes with apps for different channels like BBC/ITV/C4.

Setting up Free sat used to cost about £150? but there is no subscription. Basic Sky might be £50 set up but £20 per month subscription. A new aerial would I guess be around £100.

To me the flatowner should definitely pay for an aerial - a guy I knew who rented out properties always put in Free sat for tenants. Alternative give you £100 to £150 towards setting up a basic sky package.
