yeah 100% music is grand in a pub, there are couple of pubs I would occasionally going because they pay really good music and to my taste, but hate in other pubs when you can't have a chat with mates because of the noiseYes please to music. Loud enough thst you can recognize the songs, quiet enough that you don't actually notice it most of the time. A silent pub always seems a bit sterile to me, even if full (I can still remember Isaac's used to be like that on match days).
And that is the point I am trying to make. I go to the pub for a chat with my pals but can't hold a conversation because of the noise.yeah 100% music is grand in a pub, there are couple of pubs I would occasionally going because they pay really good music and to my taste, but hate in other pubs when you can't have a chat with mates because of the noise
Was just going to say a definite yes - can have music on loud enough to hear and sing along to , but still be able to talk tooSo your choices are loud music or no music? You don’t think there is anything in between?
Stopped going to them since they sent people up to the pubs on Teesside to enforce those rules - and put the prices up.There is always the Master Cooper or any Sammy Smiths bar to frequent where even mobiles are frowned upon.
I am 68 years old and my drinking pals are all of a similar age. The music in our local is so loud we have to shout to each other just to make ourselves heard- Conversation is impossible. I suffer from a hearing condition and wear hearing aids. I have asked for the music to be turned down as there is no need for that sort of volume. I have explained that the loudness causes me physical pain in my ears. Going to another pub is not an option. I must stress that it is not all the time but it is becoming worse.
Is this the new normal for pubs these days?
