My 1st Boro v Sunderland game

March 31st 1962 we won 1-0. Can't remember who scored but remember the game as I thought we weren't going to be able to go.
My brother had just been born and my Mam told Dad she could manage if he wanted to take me.

Just looked that game up Blf, we lost 1-0

Nobby were you the bloke who used to let off rancid farts?! Someone used to stink the place out - literally!

Apparently mine was in 1997, Darren Williams scored and they won 1-0 but I don't remember that game at all :ROFLMAO:

1st game I can remember being at vs them was the Branca and Armstrong game.

Armstrong scoring the third & our 100th goal against them on Teesside 👍

1-1 draw during the 99/00 season. They had a player sent off in the first half and we dominated, took the lead through a Ricard goal and they equalised late on. Schwarzer saved the penalty and somebody buried the rebound.

Can remember their fans goading us singing "we've only got 10 players" and felt gutted.

Yea remember that, the Sunderland lad who scored said that he would stand 12 yards outside the area & starts his run at the same time as the penalty taker does, as the penalty taker takes the spot kick the runner has just enteted the box & will be the 1st to react if the ball is saved & a loose ball, which was the case, probably the only time its happened, but his plan worked

12th August 1972 - boysend

Malcolm Smith started his 1st competative 1st game, he'd made a subs appearence on the final game of the previous season

John Hickton wasnt available for the game so Stockton lad Malcolm Smith was handed the No9 shirt & a boys dream debut bagging a brace, as the mighty Boro came from behind to win 2-1 in front of a crowd of, 24,145

2-2 at Roker Park Boxing Day 1970 with Big John scoring both for us.I also was at a pre season friendly there in 1969 which we lost 1-0 if I remember correctly when they were in the old first division.

Borofurs 1st Derby game, Joe Bolton got sent off near the end, trouble all over, including the Yellow rose before the match

Some real champions on that page - we werent far off being a top side - but the board took all the money.
Cant believe its over 40+ years.
Ayresome became a lions den for games like that, an when the Skunks played there. Close to the pitch, fans would growl at the opposition.
It was a real couldron. Dont know what happened to Graeme Hedley (?). I remember him being a slip of a lad and having good composure on and off the ball.
We`ll do our best on Monday, to remind Mr Anthony Mark Mowbray who fed him when he was hungry(y)
Only joking like
;)
