Just playing on Radio 2. Haven't heard this for ages. What a song! Brings back a lot of memories from being a kid, my mother loves Neil Diamond.

Who was your mum's go-to singer and which song of theirs makes your hairs stand on end?

Same here, Neil Diamond and Kenny Rogers were my dad and mams favourites Always tugs my heart strings when hear these songs. thinking of my parents who sadly passed away not so long ago.
Always great memories.

It's great that songs evoke such memories. Thankfully my mum is still with us, although I don't see her so often these days due to living in the south. She got to see Neil Diamond a few years ago at the O2 (2017 I think). I was supposed to take her but was unwell on the day, gutted. My wife went with her and they had the best time, she cried a couple of times. Wish I could have been there.

Many years ago I happened to catch a Neil Young tribute act in Belgium and loved the music, when I returned home I popped out to buy a CD so I could listen more and accidentally bought a Neil Diamond CD. I was appalled at the content.
Most of his stuff up to 1976 (Beautiful Noise with Robbie Robertson) was very very good. Lost his edge after that and anything after 1976 was dire afraid to say. ... Catch his album Stones (compilation of other peoples songs and a few of his own) and 12 Greatest Hits on Vinyl to hear his best compilations... Hot August Night is a double live Lp which I adore
