Newcastle today

I live up here.

I find the most effective technique is to shower praise on their minor achievements: how pleased Sunderland must be with a top half finish, since play off winners are usually favourites for relegation.

I enjoy watching them struggle balancing compliments with their own view of where they should be.

To be fair to the Mackems there were a lot of them on their message board who were pretty compimentary about us, with quite a few actually expecting us to pip Sheffield Utd to 2nd spot.

Working in Newcastle seems extra pleasant today. Both Sunderland and Newcastle fans are oh so very grumpy.

Don't think my upbeat football talk was welcome today.
It reminds me of a time I had gone to watch the Boro play Leeds and I was the only Boro fan in a car of five. None of them would talk to me on the way home either pretending they were asleep or staring endlessly out of the window into the distance. Even the driver never looked in his rearview mirror all the way home.

I just sat with a big daft grin on my face. 🤣🤣🤣

Edited for Rofesleg 🤣 🤣 🤣

That was on the way to the match? They probably just thought you were a grinning soft lad best avoided.

I think I missed a 'home' out of that sentence. 🤪

They knew I was daft when McCallister missed his penalty and I jumped up in the middle of the Gelder end shouting yes with my hands held in the air. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Yes, Newcastle will be pleased with a mid table finish after their recent seasons of relegation struggles. Howe ensuring that they can finally compete with the likes of Fulham and Brentford.
