Gutted today but really excited to see what Carrick can build.

My early shopping list:

Ashley Barnes type forward for Plan B (or is Josh Coburn ready?) - maybe Chris Wood?

GK: Steffen, Brynn
RB: Hoever, Smith

I think that is a much more balanced squad with different threats!

Havent Forest just paid 15 mill for Wood? Also Barnes has signed for Norwich i think.
 
I have been really impressed with what Carrick and his team have been able to do in turning this squad around. As long as he has a say in who we bring in I will be happy. He hit on a shape and formula for getting results with the current squad so will be really interested to see how he sets up his team in August with the players he adds.

Is this for real?

Diallo loan? If anywhere in the Championship, it'll be back at Sunderland.

Steffen on loan? He's free in the summer...

Barnes? He's literally just signed for Norwich
 
Steffen is under contract until 2025 at City - or at least that was reported when we signed him in the summer

*Edit - yeh I think his interview meant he was off either way this summer (y)
 
Ah, he's contracted to 2025 apparently, but I very much doubt he'll be at City come the summer, going by that interview he done a couple months ago.

Steffen is under contract at City for a couple of years I think
Ashley Barnes Type (obviously not him!)
Diallo - if he is available to the Championship then we would have every chance. Carrick knows him (and United) very well and Sunderland might change Manager

Its a bit of a rebuild , 5 loans back to their clubs , at least 4 on their last year of contract , and 5 out of contract . Coulson been offer a new deal , and Coburn ,Hoppe , and Byrn back from loans . Thats a hell of a turn around ! If we get a good offer for Akpon ,or Fry then its nearly a new team ! We must keep Carrick , and trust in Scott to spend and recruit in a smart way . This season has seen some of the best football in a long time , long may it continue UTB
 
I think that’s a bit of wishful thinking. Realistically, I’m not convinced we will see any of this seasons loan signings back. I think we will target young, athletic defenders/mid fielders, possibly from the lower leagues or abroad and a bit of quality up front on loan from the Prem!
 
Can see us moving on Hoppe and no doubt a few others. Much as I would love to see it I don’t think Coburn will make the grade in the Championship. As well as the loan players returning to their parent clubs we could end up needing 10 or so to come in. Wholesale changes indeed!
