No Closer to Top 2 than we were under Wilder

This Burnley team could be argued that it's the best ever Championship team
Years ago I bumped into a Wolves fan the day after they had beat us at home,I congratulated him on the result and he said we are the best team ever to play in the championship.I said what better than the Newcastle or Leicester teams that got over a 100 points or better than the Forest or Ipswich team that went straight up and won the title. He just looked at me and said yes,you could be right about this Burnley team though.

Look at the stupid points we dropped early in the season though. We should’ve two more at Stoke, one at Watford and beaten Sheffield United(tight game but I think we should’ve won it). That’s plus five to us and one off Sheffield, putting us four off them ahead of playing them this week. We made some appalling individual mistakes in those first 6-8 games.

And then factor in the ridiculous first half performances against Cardiff(0-2 after 20mins, 0-3 at HT) and QPR. Points just tossed away.

It’s the nature of this league. It’s a fine line. Like last season, everyone said it was a failure because we didn’t make the playoffs. The recruitment will have to change, get rid of Scott, Bausor, Wilder should’ve been sacked off in March when he apparently courted Burnley, we need a clear-out, root and branch reform. The reality is that if we hadn’t capitulated at Luton and held on to our lead instead of losing 3-1 we’d have been in the playoffs at their expense.

It’s what makes our league so interesting, especially when compared to the one above.

Burnley appear to be a premier league club doing a season's training in the championship before they start again. They are not even in the equation.

What that form table also shows as our form has rocketed so QPR’s form has gone into a critical tailspin.

We were lucky to have gone 1 up against them, they were miles better than us that night (including the **** jack grealish) and sent Warnock on his way.

Yeah, Burnley are really impressive.

And it’s not like they’re done it by simply holding onto a load of Prem quality players after relegation. They’ve just made a lot of really smart signings…

Nathan Tella and Ian Maatsen on loans
Manuel Benson £4m
Zaroury £4m
Josh Cullen £3m

I bloody hate Burnley as well 😂

They need 41 points from the next 48 available to set the points record... And I think it's achievable for them.

They're on course for 104. They're certainly capable of breaking the 100 point barrier, which I consider to be the definition of smashing the league. The danger with this sort of projection is they take their foot off the pedal once the title is sewn up. Only takes a draw and a defeat after to cost them the record.

I'm still amazed Fulham managed to score so many goals last season, but still only got 90 points, one of the lowest totals for the championship winners on recent record.

I think the 49 points is correct not 46 for our position after 31 games, it shows we must have dropped away to only get 21 points from our last 15 games.
