No Froome....or Thomas at the TDF!!

Although I enjoy watching the Grand Tours, I wouldn't class myself a massive cycling fan so excuse my ignorance. But are any of these guys riding at the tour? And if so, would any of them have Young Rider / GC ambitions or would they be there purely as domestiques at this stage?

Only Adam Yates from my list above (he won the young rider jersey in 2016). The others aren't quite there yet.

Pidcock won't feature in any of the Grand Tours ( he will be at the European Road Race Champs representing Great Britain next week). Neither will Tanfield who has concentrated this year on the track.

Geoghegan Hart is pencilled in for Ineos supporting Thomas at the Giro.

Froome and Thomas are still going for grand tour wins this year in Spain and Italy, we wish them well. All sports persons careers finally draw to a close and they both have been right at the very top level. In cycling it takes its toll eventually, they have both played a part in bringing cycling more to the publics attention. It will be a challenge for Ineos to win TDF again, since cycling resumed there have been some great performances by others so I think it's too close to call, however if Roglic wounds have healed he will be strong.

Personally I don't think there's anybody looking likely to challenge for a GC title at the moment although Tao may be capable of a stage win in the Tour or more in the Giro or Vuelta, but would probably have to leave Ineos. I'm not even sure which british riders will be riding the Tour this year bar Luke Rowe and Adam Yates who is going for stage wins I believe. James Knox may be for DQS, but was way off the pace in the Dauphiné. Hugh Carthy is a possible stage winner from a break, but don't know which Tour he's riding. There may be others that may get a ride as support riders but they don't come to mind.

Pidcock is a rider with the talent, but I've no idea what his plans are - and I'm sometimes not sure if he knows or if he still has the enthusiasm. Maybe he'll stick to cyclo-cross where his talent is undoubted, but that would be a waste of his potential. Anyone have more info on his plans as it's limited over here and I'm not a Twitter/social media follower.

EDIT I crossed with your post above Cardiff re Pidcock - wasn't even aware the European Champs were still taking place. It's chaotic this year.

Not many of the teams have announced their squads yet PQ

Here are some other British names in UCI teams that may or may not feature in the GTs this season

Fred Wright - Bahrain McLaren
Mark Donovan - Sunweb
Gabriel Cullaigh - Movistar
Ethan Hayter - Ineos ( for Giro)
Matt Holmes - Lotto Soudal

Unfortunately there's little chance for them or Charlie Quarterman at Trek in the Tour, maybe another GT but unlikely as most are just learning their trade, although there could be a chance for Dan McLay (Arkea-Samsic) as part of Bouhanni's lead-out train.

I have a pair of Flight Jackets and just cant get on with them, especially on my nose. I also have a pair of Jawbreakers which I much prefer, they just fit my face better.

i also have a pair of Jawbones, but they look so small, stupid and dated now compared to the bigger style glasses like the other two.
I like the fact you can glance in any direction and no impairment from frame or gaps to your vision. Although the same with seats if they don’t sit right they’re a waste of money.

It's possible that Tanfield will be there but the other two won't. Pidcock is the most likely future star.

Edit: Soz, didn't see the other replies.
