NUFC Ticket Outrage…

Don’t know how many posters know or even care about this but I’m a regular follower of Newcastle United’s groups, mainly because I’m consistently disgusted at their celebration of all things Saudi. It’s really been the tipping point of hatred for me to all things elite football - it’s a new level of disgust that I have never reached before.

NUFC have just announced their membership ticket policy and unlike last year - where membership got priority access to home tickets after season ticket holders - this year membership (think it’s over £30 for an adult, not much shorter for a kid) buys you access into a ballot where you go in for unpriced tickets at the point of application, which could then return tickets of £74 each. Seems like fan groups are up in arms about it.

It absolutely boils my blood that this is the biggest concern of their fans i.e they are the victims here, despite the brutality of their regime and the human atrocities that it commits.

I really need to stop following their discussions but I’m morbidly fascinated with the dire situation that their club ownership is and the gross hypocrisy that most of their fans show. It was only a few years ago that many were up in arms about Mike Ashley’s UK business practices.

I would love to see them crash and burn, along with all this other Saudi guff, but just know it’s only going to worsen as time goes on.

I live on Tyneside and my kids are growing up as Newcastle fans but it’s burns my soul to watch. Makes me wonder if I even want Boro to get promoted - I want us to do well but not buy into this absolute ethical bonfire of the EPL.

Am I alone in descending into hatred of the Prem and in particular NUFC?

I agree on the ownership, that’s my point. But maybe not on the membership tickets. Maybe I’m confusing 2 different points, it’s just drives me mad that there’s not more noise about the owners.

You are not alone

Definitely not alone in a hatred for that lot. My wife’s family made us come back from living in the UAE because it wasn’t right and that’s it’s a terrible place, etc. Now I need to take anti depressants to get by, can’t face interacting with them socially and they are the biggest ever fans of that club again. Total hypocrisy. Really can’t stand them.

Well you sup with the devil…..

I think there is very few clubs fans that may come out in a majority and protest about a Saudi take over , probably only Liverpool, the rest of us would just have to put up with their own clubs fans being in a general celebratory mood about hitting the jackpot. I hope I would stop going, I wouldn't be surprised if some of our fans resurrected Ironoplis bit like Utd of Manchester while we were under that shadow.
I don't hate the mags, but in the past I have had plenty of **** said to me of random ones I've met when they know I'm a Boro fan, I usually ignore, but I can't be bothered to humour them now and I give it back.
We blame the FA for this but the Tories were in a very hospitable mood to the Saudis in the months prior to the FA decision to allow the Saudis, so it's most likely that they were putting pressure on the FA to change their ruling.

It was a lot more than 'likely'

How could you let your kids grow up as Newcastle fans?

Leeds have a similar membership scheme must be great to be oversubscribed and be able to fleece your fans

I've read a few amusing twitter and Facebook arguments. Many from former longterm Mag ST holders who gave them up as a protest against Ashley.

Many had them for 10-20 years etc. Now can't get one as the new younger fanbase snapped them up pre takeover. Also no doubt a few 'glory hunters' who'd never even been to a game. Some proper moaning going on👌😂

Harking on about past endeavours is all Newcastle fans have, so not a surprise there's a few going 'I once had a season ticket when we wor sheeite, but now a cannae get one'

You can protest at numerous things, not just in isolation. This ticketing things is a bit of a fiasco. Not all their non-season ticket fans will wish to pay 74 quid for a game. Surely they should get a choice between say a 44 and 74 pound ticket. Apparently Newcastle and Spurs have both increased ticket prices by quite a bit this year. 74 quid is quite hefty for a game!
