Pro's

Free to install
No more meter readings to submit to supplier
Easy to track what you spend
Encourages better energy habits
Access to cheaper tariffs
Easier to switch suppliers

Con's

Uses a mobile signal
Excessive monitoring
Shares a lot of data
Might lose smart function if using older type smart meters when you switch suppliers
Supplier can switch smart meter over to a prepayment meter remotely if you get into debt
Once you get a smart meter installed you can't revert back to a traditional meter if you don't like them

Uses a mobile signal - depends where you live. Up here it's an arquiva radio signal, below a set line in the country it's Telefonica / o2

Might lose smart function if using older type smart meters when you switch suppliers - the amount of older meters should be tiny as most have been remote firmware upgraded from smets1 to smets2. Supplier should swap it out if it isn't possible to remote upgrade
Supplier can switch smart meter over to a prepayment meter remotely if you get into debt - they can do that now, they just get a warrant and smash your door down, which do you prefer?
Once you get a smart meter installed you can't revert back to a traditional meter if you don't like them you'll get one anyway when your meter reaches end of life or fails, no way to then opt out so just delaying the inevitable
