Old Boro Pubs

Did the Boro have the highest footage of pub space in the UK per head for population?

Around 1900 there must have been hundreds of hot furnaces close to the Town, plus the Port was busy with sailors looking for a drink and female company. Add in a strong working class culture, inclement weather for most of the year and there are the ingredients for pubs. The only thing missing were cattle markets.

On the subject of old pubs/clubs
(ive asked this before) has anyone got a photo of the old co-op club on the corner of acklam road/green lane?

Havent been able to find one anywhere on the internet
