One Shot On Target

Ok, I don’t want to come across too “glass half empty…”

Thought we were excellent tonight. Played some lovely stuff. Controlled most of the game, with a weakened team. I’m more confident about the playoffs now than I was yesterday.

But only 1 shot on target. Final balls and crosses were poor. Half chances were all snatched at. And our set pieces (attacking and defending) are dire.

We need to do better in both boxes, that’s where games are won and lost against good teams. Hopefully we’ll put it right if we can get some players back.

I’m not at all worried about Bola and Crooks snatching at half chances. Our better players would have buried some of those tonight and I’m confident we’ll score 3 or more if we meet Luton again at Wembley.

Bola stunk the place out all night, play him at the back or not at all, although he was at fault losing his man who had a free header to equalise. He seemed to be playing as the number 10 for the last 15 minutes too, zero technique.

Crooks also wasted many chances in the box tonight, **** poor composure and couldn’t even get them on target. It’s a shame that Jones didnt benefit from the likes of McGree, Forss, Ramsey and Akpom to link up with

How many shots on target for the team in third at home up against a team resting key players ?
I think they will be more worried about us than us them

Crooks had 5 chances, Lenihan one and Bola 4. Give 10 chances to Akpom and Hackney and we score at least 2 or 3 more.

Surely it was Dijksteel who lost his man for the goal, after he was fouled?
Bola wasn't great but put in a shift out of position. Last night was just about getting through the game with no injuries and playing time for squad players. Job done.

Although Jones did well getting into their box and dangerous areas. I thought his final ball and/or decision making was poor. Which we know about because his crossing isn’t any good unless it’s along the floor. Forss starts ahead of Jones when fit for me.

Some rank bad finishing from Crooks.

We had plenty of opportunities and more chances than them, we just didn't put them away or even hit the target.

Bola, playing totally out of position, was the only player I was a bit disappointed with in what was I thought a dominant performance. The scoreline belied the actual game. We were battering them and their left back and left Cb were stressed throughout the second half. Ok we didn’t test their keeper and guilty maybe over overplaying at times rather than have a pot shot by it was easy on the eye to watch.

As others have said with a stronger side we beat these.

Crooks could have had couple another day. Its just a pitty we never seem to be able to keep a clean sheet. our goals against column is very shoddy.
