Where are people getting their CDS from these days. I get a lot from Bandcamp but as a "get all" when I order a few together I was using Amazon but they are getting as bad as HMV in Boro. Anything a bit out of the ordinary and you cant get it or only in MP3 format. Thinking specifically about alternative rock/punk/emo and other things that are not mainstream. I was trying for these two albums on Amazon as an example but there were numerous others..

EDIT: Since found out that tis is not out on CD until end of the month so a bad example to use as Amazon have the vinyl. But I'm sure you get my drift. Another I looked for is Soul Glo - Diaspora Problems.

Can't remember the last time I bought a cd other than from the band's web site or bandcamp.

Looking at those two bands bandcamps I see they are doing vinyl & download which suggests that they haven't bothered with cd versions as probably not worth the cost.

Just buy the downloads and burn to CD if you want disc versions?

People prefer the quality of a CD or even more so vinyl. Others still hanker for something actually tangible. A physical thing with lyrics, artwork etc you can touch and hold as well as play.

Literally just taken delivery of CDs of the latest Zappa release, from Rough Trade. Get them off Amazon sometimes. Loads of bargains second hand. They were almost giving them away at the record fair last Saturday.

I remember buying a kenwood CD player for my car that came with a CD autochanger that went under the passenger seat. I paid a fortune for it.

I felt like a dog with two d*cks😂

I now have a USB stick the size of my thumb nail with thousands of songs on. Simply not the same feeling of 'making it in life' I received from that auto changer lol.

Do people still buy CD’s? So much easier to stream.
Yeah I thought exactly that.
I got sonos before I realised I couldn't link the CD player to it. But since then never not found what I want to listen to on Spotify so very close to binning the massive CD collection.

I have Spotify but also buy my favourite bands CDs. As said above; I want to have something I can see, feel, read, admire for my money. Just got the new Slash& Myles Kennedy album last week.

DCI_Gene I burn CDS all the time but I wanted them for a present for my son and wanted the real thing. The proper. album is coming out on CD but after his birthday. Things and artists I really like I will buy but I find it strange that CD sales are still far higher than Vinyl but they are pushing the one format. Maybe its just applies to the type of music I like.

I still like the physical format and play CD's in my car. It has the ability to play off a USB but I just dont use it.

I also had a CD autochanger in the boot and I loved it. Before that cassettes still have loads of tracks from John Peel showns that I used to tape every night.

I defy anyone average person to hear the difference between flac files and a cd played through the same system. I always get vinyl or cd (or both!) when available and flac for downloads only.

I agree its great to get the printed material with cds or to hold a vinyl sleeve. It's not the same but some downloads now come with pdf's of the printed material. It sticks in my throat that it's only some, they all should do it.

I have a load of Peel stuff, Festive 50's, sessions etc if there's anything you want? Sadly nearly all on mp3 but better than nothing.

My Peel stuff is nearly all on cassette which I have not tried to convert yet. I used to record the shows and then make up my own compilations of the best tracks.

Try to buy CDs from bands direct via their online shops or merch stands. Crowd fund quite a bit, and also preorder. Like to try and get them signed. I believe bands do not make agreat deal from Spotify. I follow a lot of less popular bands. They tend to make more money by merch sales. Was a a gig last Friday came away with another T shirt from one band, and a CD from the other. The CD was £12 so I gave him two £10 notes. He gave me a tenner back and said he had no change. I found a fiver told him to have that as I thought fifteen was a fair price. The gig ticket was on £8, and they'd come over from the Czech Republic and a three gigs had been cancelled.
