With ELL up top his pace has allowed us to change the way we play. We now have an outlet and have begun mixing our play up instead of constantly playing it out from the back.

Pace makes teams dangerous. Currently we have ELL, Jones and Bangura who all have serious acceleration. I would like to see up add a rapid left footed play maker to really make us a really dangerous team.

With Jones he always gives you that outlet under pressure, can run the ball down a blind alley and get you a throwing 50yrds from edge of your box in seconds, and gives the team a breather

I’d definitely like to see what Bangura can do with a good spell of games in the side - maybe he could be that wide left midfielder ? I think he would be an excellent wingback for sure, and from what I’ve seen of him so far i think his all round game is better than Engels’. I have a feeling Bangura will either become first choice left back or even that left sided midfielder role.

Not a chance we'll fork out the kind of money Villa will likely want.

It'd be great if true though.

Personally I'd rather spend the money on trying to get Chuba back though.
Agree that Akpom behind lath would make a lot of sense not sure how you fit archer and lath, archer at 10

Same, he’s a competent defender, but an absolute terror in the top half of the team, brilliant ball carrier, loads of pace, strong or his size, great balance

I doubt we can get archer, if we do well have the league wrapped up by Valentine’s Day
Well we certainly can’t afford to sign him, it would be another loan - that could happen but i bet there’ll be a lot of others interested as well

I don’t think Gibson would break the wage structure to sign him permanently - at least not while we’re in the championship
Yes the wages would be 3x or 4x what we pay path, so it’s unlikely we got for him until we go up

A rapid, left footed, play maker?

How much would one of those cost? Rare as hens teeth…

It's not impossible we'd take Archer on a loan deal with a commitment to buy at a Premier League type fee if we get promoted. Imagine there will be a lot of competition but if he was to drop back to the Championship, we'd have to be in first place for his signature

I think that there might already be something in place with villa about Archer coming to us. Scott seems very positive about this summer and the recruitment of the right striker. Chuba I think has had his day in the sun...I doubt he'll be half the player he was the season before last.

I wouldn't be making pace a priority: it will only take you so far and we have enough raw pace in the team as it is.

What we should prioritise is guile and skill; if said player happens to have some pace too, it's a bonus.

If we are competing for promotion, many teams will sit deep against us, particularly at home, and that will neutralise pace. Many clubs would be fine with a 0-0 away to a contender.

We need players who can unpick a packed defence when there's no space in behind. While we should be able to counter attack, counter attacking should not be our default way of playing. We need to take the initiative and boss games.

I actually think ELL with McGree Azaz and Jones behind has a pretty good blend of athleticism and guile. However, we're going to need some more depth.

I hope we prioritise skill and guile over physical attributes.
