Paddy McNair

He didn’t put a challenge in on Vardy when he scored, so perhaps he doesn’t have the pace any more. If Leicester had scored from their chances, I doubt that people would be talking about giving McNair a new contract. We are paying him far too much, so best that he leaves at the end of the season.

Or accepts reduced terms

Christ, you don’t half get ahead of yourself 😂 As mentioned above, he didn’t put a tackle in for the goal and he also was beaten to the ball when Vardy missed a sitter. McNair has had some brilliant games for us but it was only earlier in the season we conceded due to his rashness and flying into a tackle he was never going to win

Ahead of myself how?

Paddy is a very good player at this level on his day, he has been an excellent player and important squad player over the years but he has been here sometime now and may feel the time is right to move on and I think it is probably the right time too if truth be told!

You don't have talk some 5hit - I mean, generally but in this particular instance, for the goal it was Clarke and for the sitter it was VDB
Just watched it back and admittedly the sitter was VDB but the goal was Clarke and McNair, it’s two defenders on one and McNair gets dusted for pace

I think he is a good player that has got no game time in a long time & played the full 90 mins today so how can anyone judge him on that see if he improves next game.

It wasn't two on one at all - the position he was in and ran (running away from the centre), Vardy was Clarke's man and it was him who was done for pace - Paddy was heading back into the centre to cover that space if he crossed it

Paddy won’t be getting a prem move, so if he goes anywhere it’ll only be on similar championship wages to what we would offer him.

I wouldn’t be against keeping him, but we’re currently overstocked at centre back with VDB, Fry, Lenihan and Clarke.

I don't think it's a case of someone getting a bargain. 100% Carrick would want him to stay. 99% of champo clubs/managers would have him.

He is a very good champo player. Also his versatility is a massive draw.

We simply can't afford to better or match his current deal. He's from the old 'pay anything' days. Apparently on the best part of 30k a week. That's ridiculous at our level. He will easily be able to get that as a free agent. I presume he will have a pick of clubs wanting him in the summer.

It's nothing to do with our ambition etc. Just can't afford him. The new model works. I imagine one of the last mega contracts from the Monk / Pulis days. I wish him well. He gets a fair bit of stick on here. Yet along with Howson one of very few we've had our moneys worth from 👍.

No way is anyone going to be handing Paddy McNair a £30k a week contract in the summer!
Even as a free transfer? He's a 2-3mil player. A player on a free will always command a far bigger wage and signing on fee.

I guess it depends who wants him. A relegated side with parachute payments could pay that. Although the large majority of champo clubs couldn't.
