Passenger Locator Form

I'm off to Italy next week and understand how to register for this. However there is nothing on the various information pages on how it subsequently works.

Can anyone help me with this. Once registered do you need an app on your phone to show places that you have registered?

TIA

Is this for the italian form or the one for when you get back? If its the italian one you complete it and get sent a barcode, the only time i was asked for it was the airport when i arrived, though you will get asked for your nhs one in every bar and restaurant so have that one handy saved on your phone.

I don't think you need it anymore do you?
From gov.uk

When you travel to England from abroad you:

  • do not need to take any COVID-19 tests before you travel or after you arrive
  • do not need to fill in a UK passenger locator form
  • do not need to quarantine when you arrive
This applies whether you are vaccinated or not.

I think it might be for when you get there (Italy), and I thought these got handed out on the plane.

Not sure why you would need a locator form, for landing in your own country?

The PLF has been in force when returning to the UK for the majority of the pandemic. It's effectively a way for the government to understand where you have been and where you'll be staying when you return should you need to isolate etc as GDPR means they cannot access this information direct from your airline.

That said, as mentioned above, it was scrapped last week.

Not sure on Italy's requirements to be honest.

Well you did have to until very recently when arriving back home. and it was linked to the covid test you had to take withing 2 days of arrival. All that has gone now though

They dont use that one on the plane anymore, its this one thats filled out online.

Thanks all. Sorry I did not make it clear but it's for travelling in Italy not for the return to the UK.

It's the one highlighted by Priv above I've accessed the link and realise how to register but was unsure what happened after registration. Does it need an app installing and do you have to show anything at hotels, restaurants etc.

I didnt bother with the app, just saved the email it sent me after i registered, i wasnt asked for it at the hotel or any restaurants just the aiport. Restaurants and tourist attractions will ask for your digital covid passport though. I was there the 4th to the 7th of this month so this was recent.

Ah right, I don't ever remember doing one for the UK, but only went away once during covid times.

I remember having to book a covid test for getting back home mind, largely as there was a massive panic on when I was told I was exempt, except I was exempt at 4am, but landed at 2am  Didn't find this out until the last day, and had a right mare being able to find a test place which could deliver within two days of landing, and provide proof of that. Thought they weren't going to let me fly!

You register, fill out the form on line, and upload a copy of your vaccination certs. If you manage that (and it's hard) then they'll send you a QR code which the arrivals people scan when you land in Italy. When you get your passport stamped then someone will scan the QR code. Then the sanitation service will have people there to ask if you've come into contact with anyone who has Covid. They'll also probably have one of those thermometers that looks like a gun, so they take your temperature etc.

If all clear then you are free to go. Take a paper copy of your vax certificates to show if you are asked for them in hotels, bars and restaurants.

Whatever, take several paper copies of your vax certs. Don't rely on mobile or network coverage to try to access the NHS website.
