Passport Question

I'm trying to get a passport fast. Old one run out a few years ago but need to travel in a months time (long story).

The one week fast track service doesn't have any appointments in Durham anytime soon.

The more expensive 1 day premium service does, but I'm confused about the phone situation.

Do I upload a digital version to my online application before I go to the appointment, take a physical photo to the appointment or do both?

From memory on the day we booked the appointment, to visit two days later, we took a photo of our son on the phone that same day and uploaded it and completed the documents there and then online. I think we took a physical photo on the day but I don't think it was needed. Can't harm to have it though. It was actually all really slick. We were told it would take all day maybe, but in the end he was in and out as they pretty much had it ready and had already done the work and checks. We might have been lucky.

Although we weren't lucky getting to the airport and even sticking our bags through check in before someone spotted our sons passport had expired. We spent three days in Middlesbrough, Scarborough and Durham rather than Corfu.

Mine ran out 2 years ago applied last month for a new one on-line on the Thursday, sent old one back on the Friday got notification on the Monday to say they'd received it got new one in the post on the Wednesday. No dramas at all

My wife recently renewed hers. She was in the same position, her old one had run out some years ago. She didn't have to have an interview anywhere. She got the new one fairly quickly -i.e. within a couple of weeks.

my daughter ordered her passport renewal on may 1st. Still awaiting and when she spoke to the passport office they will not fast track it until 12 weeks has passed and 2 weeks before her holiday( mid September)

Just renewed a family member; get the photo done professionally, which means it's within the guidelines and already uploaded.

Post the old one ASAP.

It was back in slightly over a week

Must be the luck of the draw. My daughter used the post office service where they do everything in the Post office (including the Photo) . I think it cost her an extra £15 but was hoping this would mean it would go through without any issues and she could track it easily.

Had the photo done at Max Speilman in Stockton, you are given a URN to enter when you apply online.

Out of interest, how long did your daughters take, assuming its delivered?
