People sh*tting their pants in August again

It seems to happen every August. It happened under Aitor, Wilder, McClaren, Mowbray, Warnock, and now Carrick.

For a long time lots of people have said Boro should be a club that develops young players and looks to sell them on. You want a young, progressive coach who wants to play football on the deck and looks to score goals. Well we have that. It will require a degree of patience and time to come good.

I’d much rather have this, the group of younger players with a young manager, than faffing about with stop-gap pensioners and dinosaurs who like getting it launched.

This board over the past couple of weeks reads exactly as it did at the start of Karanka’s two full years. One ended at Wembley, one ended in the Premier League. It’s also very, very similar to last season, when players, recruitment and staff were absolutely slaughtered and we were told the season was a write off.

Do you want a club that thinks a bit more long term or do you want changes on a whim, root and branch reform, constant upheaval and disruption? Show some patience. Let the coach get on with coaching the players. See where we are in October, November. If last season proved anything it’s that you should never write anything off, whether it be an individual player or a season.

Come on Viv.

We have been on a poor run for around 14/15 games including last season.

We have recruited, I’m not going to say we have recruited well or bad yet but we have recruited. We have to hope we haven’t finished as we having gaping holes that need sorting.

Reason there is criticism is because we are conceding shed loads of goals and it’s to easy to play against. I can cope with defeats, we all can i think. But there is a way about getting beat and getting beat in the way we are currently is going to leave you open for criticism from fans and rightly so. Fans are always going to express concerns when things have started poorly.

No one is writing the season off, and certainly not the manager. I think he’s someone all fans back and want to do well but he’s not immune from criticism either. We need to sign a ball winning midfielder, a proper creative midfielder and a striker and now a CB. I make them all of equal importance. I highly doubt we will manage to sign all 4 but I hope we can get 3.

People feel it deeply and want to have their say. I hope people have a good Sunday with family, get out into nature, go for a run/ cycle or whatever floats your boat.
Ready to cheer on the mighty boro on satda

I’m well upset when we lose, reading the comments on here after a loss compounds that.
Listening on the radio yesterday the fans were cheering on the boro, good to hear. I hope fans stay behind the team and don’t transfer their fears onto the pitch.

For a long time lots of people have said Boro should be a club that spends more than 1 season in 15 in the top flight.
But what is that based on? Certainly not financial firepower (the main metric which matters these days)

Once the PP are spent we are effectively the same as around 75pc of other teams in the championship.

I'd argue that we've actually overperformed at times since we spent the PP. We need an edge, and we're going with our recruitment. It might work, it might not but it's probably a five season cycle, minimum.

I agree it’s Best left alone after a defeat

The problem is we can't keep cleansheets and are set up to outscore the opposition like one would play on fifa on the PS5. This worked alright last season as we had goal scorers. Now the goals have dried up we still leaking goals at the back through stupid mistakes. We concede a high percentage of goals through corners or setpieces and nothing seems to be done to correct this in pretty much a year now. Then

14 or 15 games?

Sounds like Van den Berg was set to play until Saturday morning due to a dislocated thumb and Smith was forced in when probably not 100%
No wonder we were a bit disorganized at the back....
Patience guys, Patience 👍
