People who are crap at football

Would you agree with me that people who were crap at football are more likely to be supporters of professional football.I myself never made a school team in my life yet have gone to the Boro most of my life.Yet most of the kids who were decent players never seemed to go to the match.
Not really...having said that and all things being equal, i'd take the opinion of someone that's played over someone that hasn't.

Best position was left-back and I was utter ***t at that!
Took up cross-country and cycling instead(y)

Most people on here though must have been brilliant at the game both playing and running a club - they seem to talk with experience.
I was pretty poor at playing but have ran a club quite successfully. Two cups and a promotion in our second season, followed by a mini tour of Ireland in the close season.

I'd say it is more difficult to get involved playing on a Saturday now compared to between 25 and 40 years ago when there was an abundance of local leagues and teams to play in.Nowadays there is only the North Riding League and Wearside league and a couple below that where you could get a game excluding the Northern League,I think the Boro moving to the Riverside with the pull of the Robson era plus the pubs being open all day brought about the decline to lads playing on a Saturday and you can still play on Sunday no matter what standard you want to play at.

had a few footballers in the family, I was only local league Sunday stuff. My cousin currently plays for MFC and had another cousin who played non league.

I was awarded clubman of the year, cos I always paid my subs on time.

Needless to say I’m a huge boro fan as I was always free on a Saturday afternoon

I was at Boro as a schoolboy, just wasn’t good enough. Doesn’t make me love them any less but I can certainly see a pattern with lads I played with who fell out of love with the game.

I retired from school football as our Saturday morning games were stopping me from going to boro away matches. I dont think they missed me.

I’ve found in life the most fanatical of fans aren’t always the most gifted, some have never kicked a ball in anger. Football is about much more than playing the beautiful game. It’s tribal, it’s about community, it’s about being part of a group, belonging, having a drink before the game, travelling to away days and so on-The game itself is only 90 minutes!

It hasn't been like that in my experience, all of the decent players I played with were regulars at Boro.

I still think if I was another 2 or 3" taller I would of made a decent striker. That was 20 year ago like. I watch some of these footballers today on mega money and think christ how are they footballers,
Fletcher, Balogun, Connolly.
