Peter Davenport, remember him, made his home debut this day 1988

Big expectations were expected of him, unfortunatly he failed to deliver, still say a few more experienced players, defenders, midfielder would have been best & IMHO, would have seen us survive that season

Mark Brennan scored his 1st Boro goal as the Boro ran out 1-0 winners, recording our 5th consecutive home win, out of a possible 6 that is some going, our only loss to date was the home game v Norwich City

Terrible signing, hadn't performed at Utd so no idea why our management team thought he'd work for us. Pretty mu h blew any cash we had on him.

Bit of a dīck as well going by an anecdote Andy Cole recounted in a book I read recently.

I always thought he was the wrong type of strike partner for Bernie, who played better alongside a more physical forward with an aerial presence such as Archie Stephens, Ian Baird or Paul Wilko.
