Place to eat on Saturday

Coming up to the match for my 50th with my brother and staying at the Premier Inn.

Looking for somewhere to have a few beers and a bite to eat before the match.

Last time we came up for a match we went to go in one of those 'trendy' places on Bedford Street but they were still closed so ended up in O'Connells :)

Issac Wilson’s, great choice of regular beers and craft ales. Good food at reasonable prices. Don’t get there too early and pinch our table 😂

Looking for something that isn't a massive walk to the ground so we can have more beer time. Also going for fodder after the match. I think we went to The Fork in The Road last time.

The Zetland Hotel has always been good since its refurbishment. I had one of the best meals in my life at Fork in the Road, and I have a particular personal preference for Umi. Middlesbrough's awash with food choices to my mind.

The new restaurant Bloom is supposed to be really good. Its in the old spencelys building neat the train station. Might struggle to get a table now though but would be worth checking.

Another shout for The Zetland (Christie's Brasserie).. food and setting in the restaurant is lovely and there's a bar at the front too which is decent for a few slurps.

Over the road from the train station. Swifty in Hit the Bar on the walk to the ground. Bob's yer uncle, Carrick's yer aunt.

The Zetland over from the station? Must admit it was a few years back but it was a can bar last time I was in!

That said, one of the nicest looking can bars around - the interior was beautiful.

It's been fully renovated. Restaurant out the back and bar at the front. I can't say I've eaten there but sometimes go in pre match for a pint. I think the guy who has it used to run Acklam Hall when the food was decent there.

Yeh, it's been completely renovated..no longer a pub (The Zetland).. it's called Christie's Brasserie.. the restaurant at the back is a beautiful room (they've polished up and cleaned all the old bottle green tiles) and the food is delicious.. As stated below, Phil Christie has it who used to run Acklam Hall.

The bar at the front is good too.

I've not eaten there, but was in the bar after the Huddersfield game and the front bar was great. Really relaxed and cosy with people sat about drinking rather than squashed together and stood up as is the case in many bars.

I ended up in O'Connells after a match a couple of months ago. Karaoke in full swing at 5.30pm. It was like the Mos Eisley Cantina - eye opening 👀

Another shout for Zetland/Christies
They do a match day special for £12 which is a pint plus whatever special they have on. It can be pie, peas and mash or beef ragu with thrice cooked chips, penackalty, mince and dumplings etc but all that bit more special than that sounds
