My Dad was in the RAF and based in Tobruk. We left when I was about 6 months old.A few of us were out there, from Boro. The oil and gas industry attracted staff from ICI and the like.
Amazing place: temples, culture, beaches, hills, tea plantations (houses with steel from DL), food and best of all, the people.Sri Lanka. Not sure I’d want to go at the moment.

It’s an amazing place — happy I got to see the place at Ghadaffi’s expense!!I went there just a few months before the war started and it was fabulous. Just a handful of other people there too.
Went there while the Shah was still in charge.I think mine has to be Tehran. Maybe it’s because of its political system or the incredible history it has within its borders which has me fascinated with wanting to visit. Unfortunately, the desire to go probably will be put on hold until the system changes.
Been there in the 80's when working in Libya. Also visited the British & Commonwealth, German and Italian war memorials.Leptis in Libya. I lived relatively nearby for a couple of years. Won't be going anywhere near there any time soon...
