Play Off Confidence

I was just wondering how confident people are going in to the play offs.

The last few weeks injuries and performances have dented my confidence.

Just wondered how everyone else was feeling.

It's going to be a ride that's for sure #UTB

I'm fairly confident.

I don't think we played well yesterday, but we were by far the better team against Luton and battered Norwich and Hull.

Hopefully yesterday was just because of a slow start and an awful ref making it impossible for any prolonged play.

Still confident - Despite the last couple of results.

I feel the overall squad is stronger at the moment, provided Carrick is just resting players and its not actual injuries. The bench looks stronger for example Jones as an impact sub.

Coventry are on a very good run and we could play them 3 times in a row, i suspect we will learn more from the game Monday and if anything might make them a little over confident.

I still believe it will be us v Luton in the final and rightly so. We will beat them in the final.

Except we're not the 2nd best team in the league, Sheff Utd are and Luton are 3rd best. We're 4th best in the league, that's why we're in 4th position.
Deep down you know that is b0ll0cks, all the league table shows is who has got the most points in the amount of games played. There is too many changes and variables that happen in a season for the league table to be definitive proof of which team is better than which. Sheff Utd only got 1 point from us this season so how can they be better than us? (I obviously don't believe this statement but it makes my point)

Hasn't really changed my confidence.

Any one team's chance of going up is always less than 50%: it's always more likely that one of the other 3 will win.

So I can't say I've ever been really confident, but we hav a decent chance.

Just bought my ticket full of confidence but now I’m having thoughts that aren't as positive..😭😭😭

I’ve been saying since carrick took over that I thought we could do this but also wouldn’t be too upset if we didn't…

I didn’t think we would do well in the prem league and fans would expect too much and as I’ve enjoyed his tenure so far I wouldn't be bothered with another season like this..

but we’d struggle to keep the good players and even carrick so I do now think we need promotion and it’s all getting real…

im trying to just take it all one day at a time and what will be will be…

UTB!!!

So you're effectively saying that "the league table is lying", which I believe someone else was hammered on this board for saying. Perhaps they should stop promoting teams based on their league position, and do a vote or something ?

If we take your example then Burnley (taken 6 points from us), Rotherham (taken 4 points from us) and Huddersfield (taken 4 points from us) are better than us, so we're not the 2nd best team in the league by that measurement either.

To think we call the Mackems and Geordies deluded.

If we turn up and play like we can, then we will win the playoffs, however if we play below par, then we will get beat and deservedly so.
Hopefully the best team wins the playoffs, and hopefully it's Boro.

I would be really confident, if we have Howson, Forss, and Ramsey `100% fully fit.

Based on our attacking 'verve' we'll definitely win the play-offs......................based on our defensive frailty (as a team) and our inability to grind out results when not at our best we've got no chance. In other words it's a lottery. Fingers crossed. 🤞

With a fully fit squad Id be very confident, without Ramsey, Forss and Howson im less confident

I feel relatively confident we have what it takes.

Hopefully the team feels like it has something to prove with the last couple of results and the terrible refereeing performances we have seen.

Strength through adversity and all that.

I am confident we will win our semi final and confident we will win at Wembley in the final.
Why?
1. I genuinely believe if we play at our best with our best players available then we are significantly better than any of the other teams are capable of being.
2. Carrick and his coaches will have us play at our best.
3. Ramsey, Forss, Howson and Giles will all be fit and raring to go, while others will have plenty in the tank.
4. Nobody will want to come to The Riverside for a second leg.

I'm very confident, but not certain.

On the surface it looks like performances and momentum have dropped off but knowing Carrick was tutored as a player under Fergie gives me more confidence that we are going about our business as usual but confusing the hell out of everyone else

We`ll play a strong line up against Coventry, no doubt but it won`t give anything away of the real intent and what`s to come in the play-off games

I trust Carrick, his management team and the players to get it right and why wouldn`t you, we`ve been fantastic since Carrick took over

Hope the rumours that Forss and Ramsey are out and that Fry won’t be back either are wrong.
