Players needed before the end of the window

•Left sided centre back
•Creative midfielder who plays forward and can carry the ball
• Another striker (presuming muniz is done)
• a winger who can come off the bench and create chances delivering better balls than Jones

Including Munoz that’s five needed to have a competitive squad. Move on watmore if we get the strikers in.

Let’s see your list and players for those positions

Don’t disagree with the needs but o do disagree with when they were needed. The squad was needed in place before the season started, not 7/8 games into it when the window closes.

We’ll have spaffed enough points away with an inadequate squad by the time the window shuts. We’re already from now - 5 games in - in catch up mode, assuming we can actually start winning at all.

We won't get all them, we need more than positions, we need attributes.

LCB, we have a soft underbelly. We need to be tougher to break down. We don't have players that will put there body on the line. The reason we lost today was that everytime we had a sight of goal a reading player was prepared to throw themselves in front of it. However when they had their one sight of goal, everybody was watching as the ball dropped to him. Lenihan was superb. Bola played like a League One quality LB who is too passive to get in front of shots and play at CB. Fry defended ok, but looks like a fish out of water with the ball at his feet. A quality LCB with Lenihan and McNair will do the job.

Next yes, a bit more creativity in CM would help, but to allow that we need a bit more energy at CMD. Howson doesn't have the tenacity or pace to play tat role to a high level consistently. He is good on the ball and is really an 8, we also have Mowatt and McGree. That shoudl be able to create.

On McGree, no, he is not a 10, it failed today. He and Fry were rightfully hooked and I called it at half time.

I don't agree about signing a winger. We don't play with wingers, our wingbacks however were very timid today, barely trying to get at their man until the last 5 mins when Jones had a go, and lo and behold Reading were clinging on. If he'd done that from the start....

Up front, Forss cannot play as a 9 on his own, he needs a partner. Muniz should offer a bit more dynamic energy and strength, but we need a creative forward as another alternative. Watmore dear me.

I disagree on the LCB. I think we need to get back to McNair as LCB.

Nobody even thought about a "left footed CB" until Wilder mentioned it... now everyone on the forum thinks we have this desperate need for one.

Leicester have Amartey in LCB, Brighton have Webster in LCB, and Everton just signed Tarkowski for 20m and played him at LCB. They're all right footed...

Dijksteel Fry McNair worked perfectly last season, we had one of the best defenses in the league. CW's playing Bola there to prove some kind of point, and it's not working.

Hopefully we can get £500k from someone by bundling together mcgfree, hoppe and forss to ship out the dead wood before end of the window.

OF course they have and it's fairly clear why having a left footer is important in a wilder LCB role. McNair played well at RCB second half, that' his role, too slow for CM and will always check back when overloading forward.

They don't overload forward not as often as we expect

Out of possession yes it was 'fine', in possession no it wasn't. We want to reach better heights than last season, that means changing things.

Yes we do t play with wingers but when we are chasing a game and pushing for a goal against a team sat deep Jones does not get to the bar line so needs to put better balls in from further out. A winger on the bench would offer another option when defensive duties are not needed. An option to play further up the pitch and get balls into the box. We are predictable and most of our changes are like for like

I think this is part of the problem with wilder is he seems to be striving for perfection from the back sometimes you have to comprise your ideals and move on we have bigger problems in midfield and attack

You get the feeling we've just missed the boat on the signings, still around 2 weeks to go yet, time for another couple of losses to add to the poor start to the season. Maybe we're saving the cash for a rainy day?

He compromised last season, this season he is trying to improve and put it right, which is what I would expect. For the record he is utterly right about Fry, for the second start running he has got the hook at half time and deserved it.

We forget what Wilder came out with after the Preston game .. wholesale changes will be made. i get we only want to sign players who want to come here for the right reasons and not just for a pay day but we need some serious game changers/match winners through the door before the window closes

I think we've either missed the boat, or are going to end up overpaying for players now that it's obvious to other clubs that we are getting desperate.

We need a destroyer in midfield too, the centre of our team is full of **** weak crabs, crying out for someone to do the Clayton role of old, certainly isn’t howson who unfortunately disappears when the going gets tough against a team of scrappers

You’re right Bola was shocking today - i do think Lenihan coming in has had a negative effect defensively, even though he’s a decent player I don’t think he was needed. Seems like either Wilder or Gibson wants Fry sold though

I think we just need someone to play LCB to allow mcnair to play on the right. He has a burst of pace that he can use well into the box. He is barring Giles the best crosser of the ball in the team. He should be taking the right CB position not djiksteel. People talk about him being good linking up with Jones. To me he looks hesitant and ponderous.

Still time but the game changer comment looks way off

I don't think Bola or Dijksteel are top champ level.

Bola is a league one quality LB, pure and simple.

Dijksteel is a decent championship fullback, he can 'do a job' at CB but he will have poor games because he isn't a CB and never was.

Fry, good defender, but poor footballer. If you want to play the ball on the deck, he isn't your man. I think he'll move on

agreed. Said at half time we needed to get McNair into RCB, because he's better on the ball than Fry. If we are going to trust Wilders style you can't have non-footballers like Fry in the back. Fry again was awful in possession, looked like the ball was a foreign object to him,

McNair also should only be an emergency CM, in fact I'd be more inclined to play Dijksteel as CDM and Howson as an 8, than what we had today with McNair as an 8, it's not his position.

Now, what we need is to find the left sided equivalent of McNair.
