Plymouth away on July 23rd

I went to the FA Cup replay in 1991, 7 hours on the train only to find out the match was postponed, I had to stay overnight. I went to the rearranged game as well a week later, 4 days off work and two 14 hour round trips.
Thats dedication to the cause!

Ah the Avon da Lay!
I remember the days when dear old Mr Squires was the landlord bless him. He's was the longest serving landlord in Guzz. And he had the longest memory... Knew every matelot he'd barred out.
My fondest memories of Guzz are having a poached eggs on toast breakfast at Aggie Westons followed by a dinner time sesh, then watching sh1te hawks explode in the air on the Hoe and the night spent in Diamond Lil’s trapping the local talent. The good old days!

It looks like Boro are planning a friendly in Plymouth on July 23rd - It will be a Friday evening. Hopefully some fans will be let in.

Some might like to combine a little holiday break with a Boro game and knock off another league ground if they were unable to go in 1973, 1981, 1987, 1991 or 2010.
Booked a week in Plymouth in my camper for a week. Taking in the 3 games. Utb

Very tempted by this if we can't abroad this Summer - having never been to that part of the world what would people suggest as a base? Plymouth and bus/train to touristy stuff (and the games) or are there any decent smaller towns worth staying in?
