Popular bands you dislike

Never understood the fuss with The Killers either
a handful of absolute bangers and then maybe 75% of their stuff is just bang average. Great live though, real energy.

Which brings me to Kings Of Leon, brilliant first 3 albums, then went the Coldplay route of poppyfying themselves too much, but possibly the worst live band I've ever seen, it's like watching a band being forced to rehearse when they would rather be anywhere else but rehearsing.

Never understood the fuss around The Libertines
Up the Bracket is an outstanding album in my opinion. Their other two albums are decent but I think for many they're one of those "you had to be there at the time" kind of bands.

I went to see them in Leeds last week and they put on a great show, but they only played three songs off their last album, which says a lot really.

I'm going to put on Pet Sounds, maybe cry a little, and try not to let you spoil any more of my day.
sorry mate, enjoy it. I did see Brian play at Hop Farm a few years ago, he wasn't bad, and made me realise I like more BB songs than I thought, but what an oddball he is

Love the Beach Boys and B W but I don't get the love in with Pet Sounds. It's good possibly great but best album ever nowhere near. Probably not even my favourite BB album. That's probably Surf Up.

Don's yin hat and ritires to the bunker.

Well yes, I do happen to think Pet Sounds is the (joint) greatest album of all time, but you won't get any argument from me - absolutely love Surf's Up too. I wrote my uni dissertation on the Beach Boys era between 1968 and 1971, which I think is a fantastic little run of albums.

It's a long and complicated story, but the short version is that he suffers with schizoaffective disorder and hears voices in his head. Opinions differ in the fanbase about how much he really knows or understands of what goes on around him, and whether or not it's morally right for him to still be touring - although on the surface he seems to enjoy it. He has an unbelievable band who can recreate the old BB sound right down to the slightest nuance and have been doing so for a couple of decades now. They treat the music with the reverence it deserves and play a great mixture of hits and deep cuts, although it's a sad fact that Brian isn't adding much to the sound, and at times is actively detracting from it. Still, just being in his presence is enough.

I can't believe it took to the 2nd page for someone to mention that talentless, yob garbage AKA Oasis.

Yes, if you get a chance see his show. The music stands up pretty well the musicians are all superb and if you have any love for "pop" music you will be entranced. I went to watch him at a festival to sort of tick the box before wandering off to another stage and was there to the end shouting for encores. Pet Sounds is of its time and hearing it for the first time must have been astounding. Best ever? Not for me but a classic by any measure.

Absolutely correct about Kings of Leon. The first three are excellent, the fourth not too bad, but after that it's just awful stadium rock. They lost all authenticity.

I remember seeing a newspaper review for their sixth album "Mechanical Bull" which went something like "for review, see album title" 😂

Love and Mercy, Wilson biopic is a decent watch if you haven't already seen it

Killers incredibly dull in concert.

yes to Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, etc.

Will add Spandau Ballet to the list.

And Elbow. (Although I quite like Guy Garvey on the radio)

The First 3 bands in this entire thread are also my Top 3 - Namely Coldplay - U2 - Red Hot Chilli Peppers, each on account of DULLNESS Above & Beyond The Call Of Duty.
I would also nominate The Beatles.
