Press Conference - Watford

I dont normally watch these sort of things, as I always think the questions asked are pretty toothless and they never get around to addressing what people are talking or thinking about.
Craig Johns went around Scarbro to get to Whitby and failed but Dom got stuck in towards the end and asked the more difficult questions so far- but the chap after Dom was much more forthright... Anyone know who he is?

Fair play to Dom Shaw actually trying to get something out of Carrick regarding us trying to fix the defence, when we haven’t managed to fix it all season.

Just got the usual spin back but that’s always going to happen.

The claim he made of making changes at times through the season fools nobody. The only change I see (apart from personnel) has been over the last couple of games in using subs earlier, and personally, I think that message has come down from on high.

He didn’t have the look of a man under pressure mind, we’ll see what Saturday actually brings.
 
The piece I saw from the online gazette suggests he’s not under pressure internally……yet.

Don’t forget Boro sacking month is usually in October, it’s predictable like Michael’s substitutions!

Woodgate an exception due to COVID and Monk, well because he was Monk….. think Karanka was taken out in March to prevent him having a breakdown!

Yeah, he seemed to be suggesting that he does lots of clever tactical stuff game-by-game that we fans can't see or understand. Even if that's true, it's obviously not working.
 
Good press conference with some good and honest answers.

I’ve been unhappy with Carrick for a few weeks but a lot of what he says is right about the complexity of players, characters, blend etc.

As a club we can’t afford to shop at the best stores, a lot of the issues are probably caused by that rather than the tactics.

A couple of wins will change the mood.
 
Yeah, I think he said the right things there. He has made changes during the season, some more obvious than others. Borges inverting v Sheff Wed, mixing up our directness, conceding posession v Burnley H, to name some off the top of my head.
Proof will be in the pudding on Saturday...
