Private Eye and Teesside freeport

Can't wait to see his 'unfeasability study' for a tunnel between Redcar and Hartlepool.

8 miles between them and he thinks the journey could be reduced to a couple of minutes. That's 240mph average speed!! Can't say he lacks ambition, but he is not one of the regions great thinkers.

No wonder the region is skint.

We are only one tweet away from Houtchen announcing the new Tees Monorail.

As much as you may think he’s bent and corrupt, a crossing closer to the mouth of the Tees is required. At rush hour it can take 30+ mins from Wolviston to cross the flyover. Removing Hartlepool & East Cleveland traffic from the flyover could and should make everyones journeys easier & quicker. It would also act as a relief road when the flyover is snarled up by accidents.

Which is why it’s been discussed multiple times over the years but the cost is just too high. He might as well announce a feasibility study into channel tunnel 2 from Teesside to Hamburg. Once it’s built, it would be transformational for the area but the budget will never be there for it. Of course he knows that but he’s banking on the idea winning a few votes and then being discarded after the election.

and here he goes. A new hospital is the cornerstone of his campaign.

This morning I launched my campaign for re-election as your Mayor.

The past 6 years have brought enormous progress across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool, and we’re once again standing tall with new investment and jobs delivering a brighter future for our region 👊

We’re now doing the things we could only have dreamed of ten years ago, but it’s vital we keep going to make our area even better, as there’s still lots to do.

👉 To do this, we need to a new state of the art hospital to replace North Tees Hospital.

I will not leave this issue to politicians in Westminster, or in our local councils, to fix for any longer.

North Tees Hospital is not fit for purpose and our incredibly hardworking and dedicated NHS staff are being let down by the buildings they have to operate in. Enough is enough.

That’s why, If I’m elected in May, I will build a new hospital to replace North Tees 🏥

We have shown that no matter the size of the project, we are up to the task.

We promised to save the airport and we have ✅
We promised to take back control of the Teesworks site and we have ✅
We promised to bring steel making back to Teesside and we are ✅
We promised to deliver real jobs and real investment to create local jobs for local people and we have ✅

Armed with this record of delivery, the next promise I will deliver is a new hospital that local people deserve 💪

I said yesterday we were one tweet away from Houtchen announcing a monorail. This is even worse.

How can he say he will build a hospital? He has no powers or funding to do any such thing. The day the likes of him get that power is the day the remnants of the UK finally fall.

The Corney & Musgrave Empire Hospital.

Tariff:
MRI scan £5k
Hip replacement £25k
Heart surgery £250k

Finance available. 10% deposit then pay monthly for 24 months 50% AER
Car parking £10 per hour.

Shameless corrupt grifter.

i've had the "pleasure" of being in north tees this week and he is bang on that we need a new hospital. it is not fit for purpose in terms of layout and the age of the building. whether he can do it or not is the bigger question. it has been promised/needed for years

How many hospitals did the Tory central government promise and how many have been opened

Why would a regional mayor do any better?

Why should the mayoral budget be funding it? Yes it would improve the area but if he can get that budget it should be improving things in his remit

How long ago? Techniques have changed. You don’t need a tunnelling device anymore. Land ownership changes.

Tyne Tunnel 2 was under £300m. A bridge could be doable but it’d have to be a lift bridge/swing bridge. Plenty in Holland we can copy off.
