My entire pub crawl from the mid 90s around redcar has neà rly gone or changed its name ... pig n whistle (one that went when Morrisons was built), clary, elgins, royal, hydro, sharkeys, leos, reds then manhattans (and the one thats now a chippy next to the beacon bingo who's name escapes me)
Crown and anchor has survived and im sure the stockton changed it name at some point .. the bookmaker?
Bierrex was excellent.Another one I remember, and what seemed like the height of continental cool at the time was Bierrex on Albert Road (opposite the original Triads, which I still maintain was originally one of the best designed shops of all time) which offered lagers and beers not available in your standard pubs.
Sort of a craft beer bar, which litter the town now, but back in what 1992 ?
Whilst I'm this early 90's nostalgia trip, what about K Cider which came in a black bottle and was marketed as the upmarket version of what at the time was a pretty downtrodden drink beloved of students and alcoholics mainly. A marketing campaign in Select magazine and NME attempted to position it alongside Grolsch, Becks and Bud as a trendy alternative and probably to try and get people drinking booze when out after many years of Acid House had eaten into the drink sales at clubs and pubs across the land.
