Pubs that have closed

Mine was the Linny bar 1983 . The lounge was full of rockers .Not long after went in the Empire and it had flags across the ceiling and it too was full of rockers ! 😎

The Clarendon on Dovecot Street in Stockton. Also the Top House in Norton and The Pot & Glass in Egglescliffe.
Pot n glass Is my local now . Didn’t it have a reputation as a bit of a errr philanderers abode on account it is out of the way . 🤭🤫

My entire pub crawl from the mid 90s around redcar has neàrly gone or changed its name ... pig n whistle (one that went when Morrisons was built), clary, elgins, royal, hydro, sharkeys, leos, reds then manhattans (and the one thats now a chippy next to the beacon bingo who's name escapes me)

Crown and anchor has survived and im sure the stockton changed it name at some point .. the bookmaker?

The Mayfair was the one that is now Russells. Elgins is up for lease also but is a total shat hole these days

If I had had one, I intended to name my first born daughter Victoria Alma Helena - in homage to the three pubs on Whitby Street, Hartlepool in which I wasted a lot of my youth. I never had a daughter so nobody had to suffer. Only the Princess Helena remains now and it's only just hanging on. Shame.

Another one I remember, and what seemed like the height of continental cool at the time was Bierrex on Albert Road (opposite the original Triads, which I still maintain was originally one of the best designed shops of all time) which offered lagers and beers not available in your standard pubs.

Sort of a craft beer bar, which litter the town now, but back in what 1992 ?

Whilst I'm this early 90's nostalgia trip, what about K Cider which came in a black bottle and was marketed as the upmarket version of what at the time was a pretty downtrodden drink beloved of students and alcoholics mainly. A marketing campaign in Select magazine and NME attempted to position it alongside Grolsch, Becks and Bud as a trendy alternative and probably to try and get people drinking booze when out after many years of Acid House had eaten into the drink sales at clubs and pubs across the land.
Bierrex was excellent.

Do you mean the Mayfair Davey. Frequented all those pubs now stick to bottom end. Pig and the Gypsy. Beer is rank uptown.

Rita's pantry for me. I don't much go in others now. Used to go in Gypsy quite alot, I do like it in there

Bumped into Paul Heaton and The Housemartins before Beautiful South fame in Bierex . My mates never knew them and I was having good laugh with them about Boro and Hull .

I remember birex bar , used to get the gordons scotch ale , but only when it wasn't my round as it was about 5 quid.
Boosted my continental beer glass collection no end from there

The Buck, The Seven Stars, The Highland Laddie, The Moorcock in Guisborough all gone now. There may well be others I’ve forgotten due to decrepitude....and too much ale at a formative age.

Hydro and Sharky’s - Redcar

The Normanby

The George and Cleveland Bay - Eston

All visited regularly in my youth.

My mother/father in law had The Buck just before it closed. Well and truly screwed over by the brewery.

Albert road alone the 4 corner traffic lights pub crawl bar fresco (smallest but best bar in town with the tunes mike johnson used to knock out), the welly, royal exchange and old mint/ayresome park.

Wickers world/vienna just down the road too, the courtyard, blue bar ..

Some great nights out on that corner, loads of pubs but you had to actually queue to get in, back in the day.
