Qatar 22

I posted on here before regarding taking the kneee & people having ago at others who don't agree a load of codwash

The players who take the knee do it for show, not one of them, or the fans, will want to miss the tournament, that's why football & politics don't go together because its all false

Another question.
These days players seem to be much more socially vocal. See Marcus Rashford.
Think any of them might make a stand and just say I'm not going?
It's possible, but it'll be a shame. World cups don't come around often and it might be the only world cup, or the last world cup, for many players. I'm sure they resent being put in the position by FIFA.

I don't agree with that at all.
It'll be a difficult position many have been put in and the blame well and truly lies with FIFA. The players shouldn't e criticised either way. But to say all footballers who take the knee do it for show is clearly incorrect.

Agreed. Wouldn't want to just stay in hotels and swimming pools. You could say that about any WC. I'm sure there lots to visit in Qatar when you're off the beaten track and out of Doha.

Just my opinion Wilko, I know a big majority will disagree with me, that's fine

Well no not at all about other world cups. France and Germany are great countries to visit. My visit to Moscow and St Petersburg were rich with tourism and culture. Rio and the Amazon rainforest had a cultural wealth of things to do. Japan was fabulous. South Africa was fascinating from Cape Town to Joburg.

I wonder if ONE player ANYWHERE has spoken about the slave labour and deaths during the preparation for this World Cup?

I don't agree with that at all. Racism just doesn't happen at England games you know.

How can you possibly state with any certainty that every player, including black players, around the world whether they're earning £100k a week or £500 a week take the knee 'for show'?

That is quite a disgraceful comment from you.

A pretty repulsive attitude frankly. Because we won't boycott the WC we shouldn't protest about racism?

So just for absolute clarity here.

Tuesday night the Sheff. Utd lads took the knee, black lads amongst them, to highlight the lifelong effects of racism suffered by black people the world over.

99.9% of the crowd applauded those Utd players, the exception being a handful of neanderthal knuckle-draggers at the back of the North Stand.

Yet you are convinced that it's all just a show?

Unbelievable.

Yep unbelievable, do you want to say it a third time

Well you can't count that's for sure.

Apparently you think the world of Gareth Southgate yet you clearly think he was lying when he stated that the actions of the England players in taking the knee were not political.

Muttley had it right, you do hold a repulsive view on this issue.

No. Too much money involved. Many of the players who have been vocal over the last year or so will no doubt be silent.

Highlighting racism and campaigning against it using any method available should be welcomed.

But not by you apparently because you think it's just a 'show'.
