Kicking the workers out of their homes to make way for fans. I wonder if this will make the main news channels, or will it be suppressed for the sake of not upsetting the Qatari rulers, in the wake of the German ambassador being summoned for remarks made.

It was always going to happen.

That's what I was thinking. The story doesn't really add up 😕
Maybe it's down to how the Qatari's perception of your average football fan. I'm thinking of recent events such as the Euro final at Wembley and the Paris debacle. Although the vast majority of fans would be innocent bystanders, nevertheless the negative publicity given by the press would have taken precedence in the eyes of the world, especially the middle east.

Thats nothing new. The US did the same thing in 1996 for the Olympic Games, Rio did it in 2016, Sydney in 2000, Seoul, Barcelona, Tokyo. Lets not make out this is a recent issue and limited to the Middle East.

That's not what the article suggests. They're evicting the workers and locking the buildings. There's no indication the accommodation blocks will be used for fans, it just says that there will be some fans staying nearby.
