Anybody have any?

I've got quite a bit of vinyl but never been a collector. I've got 2 versions of the Adam and the Ants 7" - Zerox with alternative B sides (not sure why)

1. with (You're So) Physical - which is run of the mill
2. with a Whip in my valise - which was only pressed with 3000 copies, which I found in Hamilton's - probably 1979.

I've a collection of around a thousand records, most of which are valuable to me. However there's a few expensive ones amongst them. The Drill EP by Radiohead which is worth about £160 and is probably the one that I've made most profit on. I've paid loads for several, but they're probably worth about the same as I paid for them.

All mines been in my folks loft for 20+ years. Some rarities, first Soft Cell EP I got after seeing them pretty much bottom of the bill at Futurama 2. Signed copy of Theatre of Hate Legion/Original Sin, apparently changed hands for large amounts when Kirk Brandon lost his libel case against Boy George. need to get back and sort through it all really!

Not sure you should be booking the trip to the Maldives just yet mate:-

I still have a quick look in charity shops for goodies and I don't have a record player anymore - Might have to get one!

You rarely find much in charity shops these day, as most employ someone who either can use Discogs or knows the value of records, and as such you dont really find many bargains.

A certain Gaika Mendieta is in a battle with a mate of mine for the best charity shop bargains in St Albans (Mendieta just doesn't know about it).

Got them both, did not think there were so few pressed.

When I moved to Thailand in Nov 2019 I got a joiner friend to knock some wood crates up and transported 1300 singles and 620 LPs along with my 70s pioneer PL12D turntable, NAD amp and Cambridge CD player.... couldnt live without my vinyl ..... built a special sized room in my house and fitted it with acoustic sound panels for deflection and absorption... bought Mission floor speakers over here .... Had a few Posters come into my Wingate shop - Guisborough Rob comes to mind , top bloke , knows his vinyl ....

I hate these posts.
I used to have about 3000 vinyl albums, singles and eps and several thousand CDs.
Included were the Sex Pistols interview on 7 inch they did after a gig at the Rock Garden, Anarchy on EMI, heaps of rare punk stuff and a shedload of bootlegs. also had lots of records and CDs that had been signed by bands/artists.
Sadly they all went when my house burnt down. And while these kinda posts make me feel a bit sad at the loss of my years of record collecting (and everything else I owned) the fire made me realise that all that is just stuff. the important things, your family and friends etc are far more important. One of my sons should have been in the house at the time but had spent the night at a friends place as he'd had a beer and knew I'd give him hell if he drove after drinking so rang me to say he wouldn't be home. The fire started in the middle of the night right next to where his bedroom was so he'd have been a goner.
As it was I had to leap from the roof as the flames licked up the stairs and ran to my neighbours place in just me undies yelling for help.
Now back up to about 400 vinyl albums...

yes you're right its just stuff most of us have too much stuff most of which will end up in land fill.

I inherited some Beatles albums when my FIL passed away. I was told The White Album was worth good money.
In reality they weren’t worth anything. £40 for the lot.
I have some dance 12” rarities, white labels etc.
Again they aren’t worth anything like the rumoured values.
Look on Hard to find records for valuations. .
