Reading Relegated

Huge financial issues and idiot owners. Know an older Reading fan who enjoyed the old days at Elm Park and big rivalry with Oxford United in lower leagues but a town where Reading were really everyone's second team. The Madejski era was a a nice phase for them but they'll probably just go back to being a lower level club like they were before. With a quick train ride to West London I'm sure most people there are fans of London clubs.

I always think of Reading from our promotion in 95. Pretty sure they where leading in the play off final against Bolton but Bolton came back and won - I wanted them to win as i liked their strip but nowadays they are just a meh club for me.

I live just outside Reading in a Village called Burghfield, ground is in a rubbish part of town with next to zero boozers around. Atmosphere is always terrible and very rarely see Reading shirts walking around the town. Was decent away game for me as it's on my doorstep but won't miss them being in the league.

Nothing against Reading. Basically a result of financial mismanagement. When you are in a financial mess, results on the pitch eventually tell. Cue Everton!
Remember a good league cup game down there years ago. I think it is the one where Festa thought he had scored and took his shirt off and was still celebrating (like the rest of us) while play had restarted. Had to dash quickly back to his position in defence.

Over the moon with that. The arrogance/bias of their commentators when we played at their place earlier in the season was ridiculous. I know we were $hite then, but they still only managed to scrape a 1nil win. They were talking like they were prime Real Madrid and we were Billy Synners!

Having lived and worked in Reading for 12 years (close to the site of Elm Park) until January of this year, I can honestly say I knew very few people who attended matches on a regular basis. There didn't seem to be much general interest in the team and I don't think moving the ground out to the southern fringes of the town helped in attracting casual attendees. Coupled to that, they're a cautionary tale of selling out to speculative foreign buyers, as since Madejski they've had a series of terrible owners who've left them in an ever worsening state. I can see a long spell in the lower divisions beckoning and I can't imagine most of the town's residents will notice or care.

reading have been probly our main "rivals" over the decades. used to have some right old battles with them, and normally came off worse. all changed for them in the madjeski era, to be honest I really like the stadium, but its in a terrible location. I used to commute to crowthorne nearby, but no-one seemed bothered about the footy. my favourite things in reading are siren & particularly double-barrelled breweries.... great beer, and nice people.

Been to the old ground, Elm Park to watch them play Bradford with mates. Best thing is the Festival, went in 1992 and saw Buffalo Tom, Pavement, the glorious Teenage Fanclub, Mudhoney and Nirvana on the Sunday. One of the best days !

They were our ‘rivals’ in our city status application. Been there once. Renowned for being the second busiest train station outside of London and it was busy with a few platforms. A very underwhelming and easily forgotten club really. Very poor travelling support and surprised me the season when they went up with Southampton. Probably end up staying in the elephants graveyard of league 1 for a while and their fans seem so indifferent to bother!
