Reasons to be grateful.

Okay we are out of the cup and well short in terms of playing staff of Chelsea, but when I look at the club in general and in particular our amazing chairman, our great fans ( well done RF) our positive and progressive manager I do feel grateful.

Looking at the state MM has left Derby in, the corruption and evil that now circulates round clubs in the premier league.

Just renewed my season ticket, hopefully to be in the premier league but if not I can live with that.

We have so much to be proud of our Club for right now.

It really feels like the beginning of something good again after a few years of drifting.

I hope the fans continue to keep their expectations tempered and get behind the ‘project’ for as long as it takes.

Whilst we would all love promotion this season, my head tells me a good strong promotion push next year would have us in a much better position for staying in the Premier League once we get back there!

That’s rubbish

I agree about the rest but there is no good or bad time to go up we would not be in a better position at all as we’d prob lose our key assets as a result.

As I said I’d love to go up this year and financially it would be brilliant but I just think the team are still short of quality as was clearly shown yesterday (albeit against one of the worlds best club teams).

We’ve recently seen the damage that can be done by a yo yo visit to the PL, not so much financially but to the spirit within the club so those mistakes need to be avoided at all cost.

Hopefully the only outgoing this Summer would be Spence and if the fee we get for him covers our FFP liabilities the rest of the lads will be keen for one more crack at it.

But it makes no difference as if we go up this year or next wilder I’ll know who he needs to bring in.

You go up when you can there’s no such thing as planning or a good or bad time to go up.

Fair point .. it’s just the bitter old doom monger in me fearing the worst after seeing one too many false dawns over the years 😂🤦🏻‍♂️

Yet the same side also beat Spurs and Man U ( away) .

No it’s rubbish you go up as soon as you can then worry about the rest

As we have no idea how tough the league will be next year.

I see your point but wilder has shown with sheff u that he can more than hold his own in the premier.

The best part of our last visit to the PL was the 2 year journey getting there. I’m enjoying the ride again this season and would love to go up so we can keep our best players (and afford some new exciting ones) but the PL isn’t the be all and end all for me at all. Just enjoying having the team and supporters united again and some magic back at the Riverside.

Sometimes the journey is better than the destination 👍

Oh I agree if we don’t go up then we build go again next year with a full wilder ore season under our belt and I think we will be stronger as a result.

As Jedi rightly states you take your chance when it comes. Wilder knows what is needed. He keeps talking about the journey, how some players wont stay on board. He is thinking strategically for next season, not just the next game. I have long been an advocate of Wilder. I remember on a dark horses thread on here I tipped Sheffield Utd the year they went into the Premier League, not because of what he achieved at Sheffield the season before, but at clubs like Northampton and Alfreton too. His brand of football is enjoyable when players carry out their job.

This season the club has been transformed, Gibson seems to have his mojo back, his decision making has been good, his reaction midweek first class, footballing appointments spot on, recruitment improving although early days and the club, fans and staff are all back with a sense of togetherness, the future is looking bright, Boro are back.
